The IESOL Diploma* has been approved, at thelevels shown in the table opposite, by the Borderand Immigration Agency as meeting theminimum English language requirements forTiers 1, 2, 4 and partner/spouse visaapplications.

The Mastery level in IESOL andISESOL is recognised by ACTT as available fordelivery in Trinidad and Tobago by City & Guildsapproved centres that are also registered byACTT.

ACTT is the governing body for qualityassurance of post-secondary and tertiaryeducation in Trinidad and Tobago, including theaccreditation and recognition of local andforeign training institutions, programmes,awards and awarding bodies.

City & Guilds has been recognised by ACTT as aforeign awarding body to offer post-secondaryand tertiary qualifications in Trinidad andTobago.

Holders of thecertificates at Mastery or Expert level areeligible for employment within the Polishnational educational system as teachers ofEnglish language in nearly all settings exceptfor foreign language teacher training colleges.

Holders of the certificates atCommunicator level (or higher) are consideredto be qualified to (a) teach English to pre-school and forms 1-3primary school students, provided that theyalso hold a young learners language teachingqualification or(b) teach subjects other than English via themedium of English language in bi-lingualschools.

Communicator level in IESOL,together with ISESOL of the same (or higher)level, is accepted for admission to the EnglishLanguage Preparation Programme atFoundation level.

Birmingham City University, formerly known asthe University of Central England, is a large,multi-cultural university with 23,000 students.

The University is recognised for its world-leadingresearch and is home to the famous BirminghamConservatoire, the leading conservatoire inEngland outside London.

The University actively fosters partnerships withinstitutions around the world to allow studentsto complete all or part of their course in theirhome country.

Expert level in IESOL together with ISESOL of thesame (or higher) level is also accepted foradmission to the under- and postgraduate Computing and Health and Social Care courses.
