How does it differ? It is not a new document simply revised Building on themes from original document Makes explicit what was previously implicit More focused on how children learn and not
what they learn There are now 7 areas of learning as opposed to
previous 6
These are split into prime areas which areaimed at the youngest children and specificareas when prime areas have been embedded.

Organisation of Reception
Your child will have a key worker which will be either theEYE or class teacher This person will be responsible
for maintaining your childs portfolio and will be your
contact in the first instance.
Whole class Literacy and Mathematics direct teachingtime
Our EYFS is organised in a free-flow manner. All childrenshare an outside area which they are free to movearound as they wish
Both Reception classes have access to a courtyard andeach others classrooms
The outdoor area is an extension of the classroom andthe children will be outside in ALL weathers

General Information
Reception school day 8.50 a.m. 3.25 p.m. School dinners money must be paid on a Monday
morning given to class teacher in sealed, namedenvelope. (1.70 per day/8.50 per week)
Healthy packed lunches clearly labelled with name Once you choose either packed lunches or school
dinners, you are expected to stay with this option for theentire term
Lunch time 11.50 a.m. 1.00 p.m. All children eat inthe dinner hall then return to the Early Years garden toplay
Breakfast club 8.00 a.m. 8.45 a.m. (2.50 per day) Kids City 3.25 p.m. 6.00 p.m. (8.00 per day) If for any reason you are not able to pick your child up,
please phone the school in advance or inform the classteacher who will be collecting your child instead. Theywill NOT be released unless we have receivedinstruction.

Uniform and PE Kit
The children are expected to wear the schooluniform. (EYFS White or navy blue poloshirt, navy blue or grey jogging bottoms)Thiscan be purchased from the school shop
Children should wear black shoes. To supporttheir independence, velcro fastening isadvisable.
All children MUST have a PE kit which theywill need weekly. This is necessary forhygiene reasons and also to encourage
independent dressing skills Please make sure ALL items of clothing lunchboxes etc are clearly labelled with your childsname

Attendance and Punctuality
If your child has a medical appointmentand requires time off school, you mustnotify the office and give staff a photocopyof the letter detailing the appointment.
If your child is sick, please phone theschool office and let them know the sameday.
You MUST bring your child to school andcollect them on time. It is embarrassingand upsetting when they arrive late, aswell as detrimental to their learning andbeing the last child sat on the carpet athome time is very distressing.

What happens now?
If your child is new to the school....
Your childs class teacher will be carrying out ahome visit shortly.
Your childs start date will be confirmed during thehome visit. Entry will be staggered to ensure adultsupport is available to settle your child
Please take and complete the pack ready to bereturned to staff at your home visit. You and your child are invited to attend the following
