The need of the hour is to understand the current industrial benchmarks and subsequently direct academic research towards commercialization. To that end, BPI 2017 provides the perfect platform to deliberate on potential avenues where tripartite linkages between government-academia-industry can be established and in turn align with the Government of India's mission “MAKE IN INDIA”. The focus of the 5 th BPI Conference is "Recent trends in bioprocessing for healthcare, energy and environment". The conference intends to bring together scientists and engineers to share their research and discuss possible collaborations. In addition, industrial participants will address the current needs of Indian biotech sector and their expectations from academia as well as discuss potential new avenues with tripartite linkage between government academia- industry together with regulatory agencies. The scope of the conference includes all aspects that are pertinent for the successful development and commercialization of healthcare products, alternate energy sources and waste management strategies. This is the largest platform for academicians and industrialists across the country to share their common problems of interest and aim to solve through research in bioprocessing.
