Suitability of locationThe theatre is located inside of BOA, and will not require transport to get to it which may make the movement of objects and people easier because of transport not being required. However the theatre is only available at limited times as it is only available when there is not shows on, exams or rehearsals running in it as it is a working part of the school. Because of this limited availability it will needed to be checked before hand whether it can be used for the photo shoot. Despite this limited availability as it is a fully running theatre stage lights, a cyclorama and stage are available for usage and (as it is a running, fully working theatre) can be used when taking photos, which could be used to aid the photo shoot e.g. use of lights. As well as the use of lights you can also use the speakers and musical instruments within the stage which can be used as props within the photo shoot.

Availability of location

As the theatre is a fully working theatre it has limited availability so will need to be booked in advance for usage as it is often busy and in use. Despite this, as the theatre is fully working the stage lights, the stage and the curtain/cyclorama are fully available for use within the photo shoot and can be used to add to the images taken e.g. using gels within the lighting to create a different atmosphere in the photo.

Power sources on location

Plugs available within the theatre can be found on either side of the theatre, as well as on the fly floor on the level above. By having two levels I can position my lights at different angles for different effects because of this. Because it is a working theatre I will have stage lights connected to their DMX channels as well as using my own lights via different plugs, allowing more optional choices within my photos.

Lighting issues on locationBecause the theatre is fully working, the stage lights in the theatre are already set up and programmed (e.g. DMX leads and channels are already programmed and clear of commands except before a show) and can be used. However if I wish to use other lights such as hair and floor lights, there are plugs on either side of the theatre, as well as on the rigging bars which have stage lights connected and programmed, but can be changed to suit the lighting I need for my photos. As the theatre has two levels I can also use lighting at different levels to change the atmosphere and effect of the images, which can help make the photos look more proffessional. If I wish to use the stage lights they are already programmed and rigged onto the bars, and can be used to fit gels (coloured filters) which can be used to change the atmosphere and emotion in the photo. By using different lights (the lights available in the theatre are moving heads, profiles, fresnels, and parcans) I can create a different effect, and in effect, therefore create a different mood within each picture.
