    Catherine Nichols Gunn is a single storey school constructed in 1972, and 3548.3 sqm in size. A portable classroom islocated on the North side of the school. This portable is not CBE and is occupied by the Thorncliffe Club and operatedby the Boys and Girls Clubs of Calgary.

    General Summary:

    Structural Summary:School foundation consists of cast in place concrete foundations, and reinforced concrete slab on grade. Roof is metaldeck on timber beams and columns. Various cement masonry units are loadbearing.

    Overall, the structure is in acceptable condition.

    Envelope Summary:The building envelope is a combination of brick, and prefinished metal siding. The roof is SBS membrane. The doorsare painted metal, windows aluminum with a hopper type operator.

    Overall, the envelope is in acceptable condition.

    Interior Summary:Flooring is an assortment of tile, maple sports floor, carpet, painted concrete, vinyl tile, and vinyl sheet flooring. Wallsare painted masonry units, and demountable partitions. Aside from the gymnasium, and mechanical room the ceilingsare generally suspended T-bar. Interior doors are a combination of solid core painted wood, and painted metal inpainted pressed steel frame.

    Overall, the interiors are in acceptable condition.

    Mechanical Summary:The heating system consists of two hot water boilers with perimeter radiation. Two ventilation systems, main systemserves classroom and office spaces, consist of spray humidification and air conditioning. Gymnasium air handler isstrictly heat/vent unit.

    Overall, the mechanical system is in good condition.

    Electrical Summary:The main electrical service is a Westinghouse 800 amp, 120/208 volt, 3 phase, 4 wire panel. There are 8 sub-panelsinstalled in the mechanical room and corridors to provide power for lighting and equipment. The interior of the buildingis lit with a combination of T12 fluorescent and incandescent fixtures. The exterior is lit with wall mounted HighPressure Sodium fixtures. The building has 5 emergency battery packs, 19 remote heads and 15 exit signs. Thebuilding has a Notifier fire alarm control panel and heat detectors, smoke detectors, pull-stations and bell/strobesthroughout. The building is equipped with a Silent Knight intrusion, supernet, clock and telephone systems.

    Overall, the electrical systems are in acceptable condition.
