Meeting with Town of Georgina, OWC, Insurance/Claims adjustors January 30, 2017 to

review claim valuation, terms and conditions

OWC assembles core team for rebuilding to research and recommend options :

Project Manager/Structural Engineer Robert Stiemer, Architect Sandra Iskander, Experience Architect

Milena Vujanovic, Interpretive Planner Feruccio Sardella, Landscape Architect Mark Setter, Timber

Frame Builder Jason Gibson, OWC Exec. Director Colin Dobell and Chair Annabel Slaight

Pre-meeting with Town Planning Department

OWC now ready with recommendations for rebuilding a repurposed barn as a childrens’

discovery centre and community space

PROGRESS SINCE JANUARY 18, 2017 COUNCIL MEETING

SOLUTIONS

• Save objects and timbers for repurposing as part of demolition

• Build on a new footprint a three-season structure that allows for four-

season conversion

• Make the old foundation a “walled garden”

• Build 2nd-storey deck to south west to catch prime views to the lake

• Add elevator, services and safety features, washrooms, prep kitchen

• Integrate rain-capture demonstration system into the design

THE RESULT

A new or reconstructed timber frame barn that respects the heritage of the original Reed barn and is similar in size/shape

OWC would build the new barn in a fair, open and transparent

manner, in accordance with the current lease agreements with the

Town that govern all activity at ClearWater at the Reed Farm.

Additional surety for the Town would come from financial

drawdowns from the Insurance funds being based on pre-agreed

objectives.

With the insurance funding + OWC funding for enhancements, the

community will gain a unique new facility at no cost to the Town.

FINANCIAL AND FIDUCIARY CONSIDERATIONS

The Ontario Water Centre respectfully requests that the Town of Georgina

considers adopting the following resolution:

THAT THE TOWN OF GEORGINA entrusts the Ontario Water Centre to rebuild

the barn (utilizing, in part, The Town’s insurance proceeds) in accordance

with its vision for ClearWater at the Reed Farm.

With the core team as follows: Project Manager/Structural Engineer Robert Stiemer, Architect Sandra Iskander, Experience Architect Milena

Vujanovic, Interpretive Planner Feruccio Sardella, Landscape Architect Mark Setter, Timber Frame Builder Jason Gibson,

OWC Exec. Director Colin Dobell and Chair Annabel Slaight

And, with the understanding that any expenses above and beyond the

funds provided by by the insurance company will be borne by the Ontario

Water Centre.
