    Reamer Shoe Running and Drillout ProtocolGeneral Information and Recommendations

    The BBL Reamer Shoe is a robust casing/liner shoe with an eccentric guide nose and an integral cutting structure thatprovides the means to open out the wellbore and/or negotiate ledges and other restrictions.The nose is manufactured from an Aluminium alloy or composite that can withstand both impact loading and high set

    down weight whilst being readily drillable with PDC or Mill-Tooth Rock Bits. Due to the non-aggressive cuttingstructure of Insert Bits and their lack of a shearing action, it is Not Recommendedthat this type of bit be used fordrill-out.The body is manufactured from AISI 4145 Alloy Steel, which has a superior tensile yield to P110 Grade Casing, with acutting structure of tungsten carbide and/or PDC and tungsten carbide stabiliser blades.The BBL Reamer Shoe is available in two basic models:

    The DiamondBack Reamer Shoe, which is effective in both rotating and reciprocating applications.

    The following Running and Drillout procedures are provided as a guide only the best parameters will be

    determined by hole conditions and other operational factors.

    Running When Rotating is Possible

    Run casing as normal procedure, approaching any known tight or difficult sections carefully If a weight indication is seen, pick up 3ft and start to circulate at a minimum of 200 gpm. Note - bring

    up the pumps slowly to allow the mud gels to break. Be aware of the possibility of the casing annulusbecoming packed off in tight hole conditions.

    Rotate the string at a maximum of 100 rpm (60 rpm for 9-5/8 and larger) and run down slowly.

    Maximum WOB and Rotary Torque will be governed by the maximum operating parameters for thecasing string the Reamer Shoe is inherently stronger.

    Once through the tight section, it is recommended to continue pumping and rotating for at least 30ft.

    If required, re-ream the section. The shoe is provided with a cutting structure to enable it to back-ream.

    It is recommended that the last two joints be rotated down with maximum flow rate to clear any

    accumulations of fill.

    Running When Rotating is Not Possible

    When a ledge/obstruction is encountered, gradually increase WOB up to the maximum for the casingstring.

    If unable to proceed using weight alone then pull up clear of the ledge or tight hole section (this willusually require the last joint of casing to be broken out). Note the up and down string weights on the

    weight indicator. It may be possible to improve progress by turning the string half a turn with thecasing tongs and making a new attempt.

    Start to circulate at a low flow rate. Note - bring up the pumps slowly to allow the mud gels to break.

    Be aware of the possibility of the casing annulus becoming packed off in tight hole conditions.

    Note weight indication and compare with previous attempt. When the tight spot/ledge is reached, allowthe tool to take the weight slowly. Start reciprocation when weight is increased to previous level.

    Pull back and reciprocate the string regularly to ensure that the casing is free.

    Continue to reciprocate as downhole conditions dictate.

    Drilling Out

    Drill through Float Equipment as per normal procedure taking care Not to Spud on the Target.

    Before tagging the Reamer Shoe, set the rotary at 50 60 RPM and a pump rate that will ensure good

    cuttings circulation without decreasing WOB (approx. 40 gpm per inch of bit diameter is a goodstarting point.

    WOB should be kept low (2 5 klbs) until 3 feet past the nose of the Reamer Shoe. If using a motor,

    the string should be rotated as well, with WOB and RPM as low as practically possible

    Typical Drill Out times with PDC bits are from 10 20 minutes for 7 and 15 45 minutes for 13 3/8Reamer Shoes. Mill-Tooth Roller Cone Bits will take longer.

    If required to re-ream the Shoe, keep rotary speed low while pulling back.
