DESCRIPTION

SQLstream's real-time streaming Big Data management platform is changing the way industry thinks about its data assets. This presentation, given at the Intelligent Transportation Systems and Solutions World Congress in Vienna, Austria, discusses the role that real-time, accurate and reliable predictive traffic analytics has to play in a positive commuter or traveler experience. The role of social media, participation and communities is also discussed, and in particular, how SQLstream can combine GPS and sensor data, with semantic streaming data derived from Twitter feeds.

THE IMPORTANCE OF REAL-TIMETHE IMPORTANCE OF REAL-TIME

Traditional Data Management Architectures Streaming Big Data Management for Real-time

High latencyStore and process – querying more quickly is not real-

time

Low latencyProcess data as they arrive a real-time stream or feed

Poor scalabilityUnable to manage high velocity, high volume sensor

data

Unlimited scalabilityHigh velocity, high volume with a distributed pipelined

architecture

Lack of integrationLimited and expensive integration

Continuous IntegrationLow cost, real-time, continuous integration between

data sources and systems

Strong historical analytics, on-demand and data mining capability

Continuous ETL into existing data warehouses and storage platforms

➔ Lowest Total-Cost-of-Ownership (TCO)

»The only ISO/ANSI SQL real-time solution => immediate productivity

»Focus on application vs. low-level coding of stream processing

»Starts simply and scales easily.

➔ Unique and Innovative Platform: (highest point?)

»“The real-time, continuous analogue of MapReduce”

»Simplifies the massive complexity of multi-stream analytics

»Powerful real-time integration, analytics, alerts and continuous ETL

➔ Proven Success:

»Rapid customer time-to-value

»Minimizes risk and complexity

»Commitment to customer success
