SAFETY FIRST!
Safety has always been Fundacion Real Madrid
Summer Camp top priority.
Campers will be supervised 24 hours a day by Real
Madrid counselors and staff. Campers will be
escorted and supervised to and from all camp-
related destinations. All campers have 24-hour
access to emergency medical facilities as well as a
registered camp Doctor who is on site at all times.
Our Camp Managers carry a cell phone and all
summer counselors are CPR/First Aid certified.
Once at Real Madrid Sports City (Valdebebas), it doesn’t take you long to realize that the club
takes the security and privacy of its participants very seriously. Valdebebas does sit off on its
own and away from the traffic of Spain’s largest city.
About one third of a mile off the closest highway, and down a private access road you come to
the first manned and gated security checkpoint. It doesn’t matter if you are Cristiano Ronaldo
or a normal visitor, you must stop and show identification before you will be allowed to enter
the complex. If your name is not on the list, you won’t be getting in.
The security of the facility is impressive in its own right. Security guards are responsible for
monitoring and patrolling the facility from both inside and out.
The entire complex is fenced in with a road encircling the facility which is primarily for security
vehicles that will make regular rounds. There are 2 manned security towers at each end of the
complex. It is not long before you see the first of several uniformed security personnel on
patrol.
It is interesting to note that even parents who come with theirs kids are not permitted beyond
the first security checkpoint. Once past this checkpoint, you will only find players, trainers, and
club officials.
In fact, the only reason a parent has to enter the building is to get to a spacious cafeteria, just
inside the main entrance, where something can be had to eat or drink while training or
matches are going on. The Cafeteria also has a large balcony, with tables and chairs, where
from it some of the fields can be seen.
