House of Charity/ Bishop’s Annual Appeal Employee Giving Campaign

DID YOU KNOW - the House of Charity is a donor choice for many employee giving campaigns?

Many businesses will begin their Employee Giving Campaigns this month and continue to solicit donations through the fall months. Employee Giving/United Way campaigns give us an opportunity to direct our donations to the charities that best represents our beliefs, interests and social concerns.

Ask your employer for a pledge card and be sure to: Designate the House of Charity in the Donor Choice

Section If the agency requests a code for your donor

choice…these codes may be found on the House of Charity website under “Employee Giving Campaign” and in the Catholic Star Herald.

Ask to be acknowledged! This ensures our parish will receive credit toward our House of Charity goal.

Your donation to our House of Charity helps to build, support and maintain many programs, ministries and services throughout our parishes and communities. These programs save lives and build futures. Thank you so much for your past, present and future support of our House of Charity fundraising campaign.

LATIN ARCHDIOCESE OF TRIVANNDRUM, INDIA MISSION CO-OP Next Weekend

Next weekend, at all masses, Rev. Raju Pilla will be speaking about the works and needs of the Latin Archdiocese of Trivandrum in India. Trivandrum has about 270,000 Catholics. 90% of the people are traditional fishermen who depend on fishing for their livelihood and 10% are farm workers who are recent converts from low caste Hindus. “Harvest is plentiful but Laborers are few!” Unemployment and poverty are most rampant in this community. The Archdiocese depends on outside assistance to support its clergy, seminarians and Catechists and to continue its Spiritual, Educational and Economic developmental programs for the Community. Many coastal villages of the Archdiocese are still struggling to recover from the recent Tsunami devastation which destroyed many lives, homes and fishing equipments. We are making progress! One of our challenges is to find ongoing assistance with food and lodge to support the poorest students who are admitted in our two special High Schools that were established after Tsunami. Won’t you be as generous as you can in the second collection? Your sacrifice for the Missions is very much appreciated and may God bless you.

CATECHETICAL SUNDAY September 18TH at the 9:30 AM Mass

The Parish will Commission those members of the Faith Community who actively serve in the ministry of Catechesis. Catechists respond to the call of the Holy Spirit to serve the Church by teaching the children, youth and adults who participate in the Faith Formation process. We consider this to be their Vocation. It is vital that Catechists are recognized, commissioned and thanked on Catechetical Sunday so the Community can give witness and support their calling.

A PRAYER FOR CATECHISTS Loving God, Creator of all things, you call us to be in relationship with you and others. Thank you for calling me to be a catechist, for the opportunity to share with others what you have given to me. May all those with whom I share the gift of faith discover how you are present in all things. May they come to know you, the one true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent. May the grace of the Holy Spirit guide my heart and lips, so that I may remain constant in loving and praising you. May I be a witness to the Gospel and a minister of your truth. May all my words and actions reflect your love. Amen (Loyola Press)
