• ThepercentagesofCanadianswithbelowdesiredliteracyandnumeracyratesarestaggering:49%forliteracyand55%fornumeracy
• Inthe2013OECD(OrganizationforEconomicCooperationandDevelopment)surveyCanadaisrankedeleventhintheworld,behindtheSlovakRepublic,EstoniaandAustralia
• ThesurveyalsoshowedthatCanadianyouth(16to24years)areunder-performinginliteracycomparedtotheirOECDcounterparts
