Belleville Alumnus Starts Med School Upon completing his bachelor’s degree, Collin Young was accepted to Marian University in Indianapolis, where he began completing master’s level courses, while conducting research until medical school began. Classes are underway and Young has high hopes of enhancing medical access to rural communities. Read more Shirt Swap Student Involvement recently headed a shirt swap on campus. Students brought in shirts from the high schools and previous colleges they attended to swap for a Lions shirt, donated by University Relations. The shirt swap was a huge hit! Many shirts were received which are being donated to a local charity.

  • Belleville First Generation Program Belleville has launched an initiative to help first-generation college students. The program will provide resources, support, and services to these students in order to help them successfully acclimate to the campus environment, develop life skills, form lasting relationships, engage in positive experiences, and create wonderful memories.

    21st Century Classroom Lindenwood’s Charter School agency has sponsored the creation of a 21st century classroom complete with Zoom capabilities and flexible seating. This classroom will be located in Roemer Hall and a corresponding 21st century classroom will be built at the St. Louis Gateway Science Academy, a school that is directly affiliated with the Lindenwood School of Education. The purpose of these classrooms are to model and

    interact with a space that uses technology to enhance the learning environment. Belleville To Host Mental Health Awareness Week The staff of the Student Counseling and Resource Center (SCRC) are proud to announce Lindenwood University-Belleville’s first Mental Health Awareness Week, coming this fall semester Oct. 8-12. The events throughout the week will promote awareness of mental health issues while also encouraging students, faculty and staff to learn new ways to take care of themselves.

    Diversity Programming Student Life and Diversity is hosting a series of Diversity Dialogues during the fall semester. The dialogues will cover topics such as politics, religion, mental health, and guns on campus. They are looking forward to holding this dialogues and are looking forward to great discussions.

  • Open Educational Resources In an effort to provide alternatives to traditional textbooks and other supplemental resources, the School of Education and library staff at the Belleville and St. Charles campuses are leading an initiative for the promotion of open educational resources (OERs).     Lindenwood Spirit Day at Busch Stadium The national champion dance and cheer teams are performing at Busch Stadium prior to the first pitch on Friday, Sept 21 before the Cardinal play the Giants. The teams are honored to be the only spirit group chosen to perform on the field at Busch Stadium by the St. Louis Cardinals for the last six years!

    The Lead Newsletter To stay connected with the local education community, Lindenwood’s School of Education has started a newsletter entitled, “The Lead.” This newsletter will be available for online subscription with new content being posted each month. Information will include School of Education events, announcements and general information about what is happening in the school.

    Faculty members will also be using their expertise to author short articles about things occurring in the field of education. The newsletter will have content pertaining to teacher education, educational leadership, counseling, social work, and alumni information.

    Polish Ambassador Visits Lindenwood Piotr Wilczek, Polish ambassador to the U.S., was recently on Lindenwood University’s St. Charles campus to take part in a discussion of trade and investment opportunities between Poland and the State of Missouri. Read more

    Career Services Campaign The Career Services Office has set forth on a campaign for students to embark on Real Experience, Real Success early in their college careers.   • provide students a working resume, an orientation to the Career Services Office, and guidance on career goals. The Career Services office will also offer 40 resume building workshops, open to all Lindenwood students, during the fall 2018 semester.

    Student-Athlete Mentor Program Begins The Athlete Mentor Program (AMP) welcomed 176 freshmen student-athletes to the Lion family during the AMP Kickoff Event. Led by 56 upperclassmen student-athletes, the program is beginning its second year of connecting Lindenwood student-athletes through peer education. Read more

    Men’s Soccer Edged by No. 3 Rockhurst Men's soccer dropped its first match of the season by a final score of 1-0 against the No. 3 Rockhurst Hawks from Hunter Stadium. Following the loss, the Lions move to 1-1-1 to begin the 2018 season. Read more

    Volleyball Splits at Augustana Invitational The women's volleyball team suffered its first defeat of the 2018 season with a 3-0 loss to Northern State. However, the Lions rebounded to sweep the University of Mary. Lindenwood's record is now 7-1 on the year. Read more

  • Football Drops First Game of 2018 The football team lost 27-14 in their home opener against Washburn. Cade Brister led the Lions on a 15-play 83-yard drive that ended with a four-yard touchdown run by the freshman in his first collegiate game of his career. Brister found Erik Henneman in the corner of the end zone for a five-yard touchdown pass for the Lions second touchdown. Read more

    Freshman Enrollment Increases 13 Percent Lindenwood University recently welcomed the class of 2022. Freshman enrollments increased 13 percent over 2017 with transfer enrollments also increasing this year! The class includes students from 39 states and 38 foreign countries with nearly 1,200 new students expected to enroll.     New Student Move-In Day

    Faculty, staff, administrators, coaches, and students worked together to move our new class of Lions into their dorms and to show them the ropes. Residential Life, Student Involvement, Student Academic Support Services, Public Safety, and Admissions planned this special day that was a very warm welcome for the new Lions. One parent said, “Coming from Pennsylvania, I’ve been worried sick about dropping my son off half way across the country. Now that I’m here, I see that I

    have nothing to worry about. Everyone is so nice and helpful and the grounds are beautiful.” Thank you to all for making this a special day!

  • Student Check-In Inter-departmental cooperation made the Fall Semester 2018 check in run exceptionally well! The Business Office, Residential Life and Financial Aid worked together to pre-clear 2200 of our 2600 residents! Residential Life, Student Involvement, Athletic Departments, First Year Programs, Public Safety, and Facilities also worked together to make this years’ check-in the best so far!

    First Annual Pride Prowl

    Lindenwood Chaplain, Dr. Nichole Torbitzky, welcomed students to the Pride with the first annual Pride Prowl at Bangert Island in St. Charles. Students had a few hours to explore the beautiful Missouri River bottoms and take a moment to recharge in nature and get set for their exciting new year. Cub Club Event Residential Life put on the annual Cub Club event with over 400 freshmen in attendance. There were two different atmospheres; one was a club theme with soda, popcorn, dancing, games, glow sticks and a DJ. The other atmosphere had coffee, mini donuts, board games, a photo booth, and Trivia.

    Theatre Alumnus Cast in National Tour Mark Saunders, theatre alumnus, has been cast in the role of Brother Jeremiah in the national tour of Something Rotten! Congratulations to Mark! Read more

  • MBA Student Receives Award Zorana Jovanovic, a student in Lindenwood’s MBA program, has received the DMD Board Award. The award, a $1000 stipend, is presented by Delta Mu Delta, which is an international honor society in business. Congratulations to Zorana and Annette Najjar who is the faculty advisor for the DMD chapter.

    Alumna Wins Silver at National Addy Awards Shelly Hoerner has taken home a silver medal in the American Advertising Federation’s National ADDY Awards. Hoerner, who graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in graphic design and minors in advertising and interactive media and web design, entered the ADDYs in St. Louis, winning locally and at the district level before moving on to nationals.     Atheltics Department is Social Media Strong With the start of the semester comes the start of athletic events! To promote the events, athletics created social media posts that were well received! Within just two days, 68,700 people were reached via Twitter and Instagram!

    Field Hockey Beats Molloy on the Road Women’s field hockey defeated Molloy 3-1 in Rockville Centre, N.Y. to rise to 2-1 overall this season! Lindenwood was active in the offensive end, out-shooting Molloy 14-8 and taking 10 corners to Molloy's three. Read more

  • Cross Country Competes Against Truman State The cross country teams recently opened the 2018 season against Truman State. The men's team picked up a victory against the Bulldogs, but the women's team could not keep up, but had two runners finish in the top five. Read more

    Lions Earn Two Wins at Naval Academy Open Men's water polo earned two wins, a tie, and lost one at the Naval Academy Open in Annapolis, MD. The Lions topped La Salle 12-10 in overtime, tied with the Midshipmen 12-12, defeated Salem University 17-16, and fell to Johns Hopkins 14-6. The Lions start the young season with a record of 2-1-1.     Muller to Play in Women’s Water Polo World Cup East London, South Africa native Hanna Muller will play for her home country at the 17th FINA Women's Water Polo World Cup in Surgut, Russia. The returning Lindenwood sophomore attacker is one of 13 named to the team by the Swim South Africa Executive Committee. Read more
