LEARNING REMOTELY

This is a Partnership that We are in Together:

Parents can Opt for their child to learn Remotely and must fill out a

form to commit to Remote Learning for one Quarter at a Time.

Remote Learning will Continue by Quarter.

Parents will have the Option to Return to In-Person Instruction Each

Quarter or Remain Working Remotely and Vice Versa.

Scholars Working From Home will Participate in the Live Instruction

that is going on in the Classroom Daily.

All Parents MUST fill out the Google Doc located on our Website, Dojo,

Facebook Page, RoboText, etc. by the end of the day on Monday, August

17. Parents must commit to either in-person learning or remote learning.

Changes will only take place quarterly.

Summer Camp 2020

WHAT HAVE WE

• Summer Camp – opened for 25 days this summer in the month of July

for Grades 2 and 3

• 65 Scholars Consistently Came Daily

• No Reports of Covid!!

• Gave Us the Opportunity to Open on a Smaller Basis and Work out

the Kinks with Social Distancing.

• Regulations for Masks for Day Camp were different than what

expectations are for Masks for Schools in the Fall.

• Worked Under The Lil’ Workers Day Care License.

• Buses – we provided Aides on the Bus to take temperature checks and

ensure masks were worn daily. (This will not continue in the Fall.)

• Half Day of Recreation and Half Day of Academics

• REACH Teachers taught up to 30 Scholars Remotely On-Line while Lil

Workers Child Care supervised up to 10 Scholars in one Room.

• Recreation Activities were Carefully Planned and Carried Out to

ensure Equipment was Sanitized Properly.

WELCOME BACK LETTERS Typically we mail out our Welcome Back Letters to our families around this week every year giving all the details

of the new school year. Unfortunately, as events and circumstances surrounding the Covid-19 Pandemic continue

to evolve, this letter will be delayed.

Please check the email that we have on file with us in case the letter does not arrive in the mail prior to your

child’s start date.

Letters will contain the classroom and name of your Scholar’s teacher and the start date for your child based on

the staggered start schedule.

A mandatory meeting will be scheduled in early September for both parents and scholars to be trained on

Google Classroom in order for parents to support remote learning.

Any parent who DOES NOT have access to Wi-Fi should notify the school immediately.

SCHOOL START DAY – STAGGERED START21

School begins on Monday, August 31st, 2020

• We will have a Staggered Start this first week to allow for protocols and procedures to be practiced

with a smaller class size. (In-Person Only)

• Scholars whose Last Name begins with the letters A to Mc will attend school on Monday, August 31st

and Tuesday, September 1st.

• Scholars whose Last Name begins with the letters Me to Z will attend school on Thursday, September

3rd and Friday, September 4th.

• There will be no school on Wednesday, September 2nd for both live and remote learning to allow for

teacher planning.

• All scholars will begin learning together with live in-person Instruction on Tuesday, September 8th.

• In-Person Classes will continue with the Hybrid Model Option B for four days on Mondays, Tuesdays,

Thursdays and Fridays. All Scholars will attend Remote Learning on Wednesday mornings. There will

be no school Wednesday afternoons.

• Remote Learning is NOT expected to begin prior to Tuesday, September 8th.

SPECIALS AND LUNCH

In Process of Accommodating Specials; Art, Music, Library, Science and Physical Education

Special Teachers will be traveling to most classrooms to keep students travel limited.

Students in K and Grade 1 may eat in the Cafeteria at individual Desks and Chairs spaced 6 Ft Apart. Others may eat in their Classrooms.


HEALTH AND SAFETY – SOCIALLY DISTANCING AND FACE MASKS

Masks

Each Scholar will be given one REACH cloth Mask with his/her name on it. Scholars will be responsible for wearing this mask to and from school daily. Masks will be washed one time a week in school. Scholars who lose their mask will be able to purchase an additional mask for $3.00 or be given a disposable mask weekly to be worn.

Scholars in each classroom will now have their own spot (either a desk or table) that is six feet away from the next student. Students will be required to stay in their spot for most of the day and will be required to wear a face mask any time they are closer than six feet from one another.

Floors will continue to be marked with lines for traffic in each directions. Black Dots have been added every six feet through the halls to ensure 6 feet social distancing.

Visitors – Parents will not be able to come into the school past the vestibule except on rare occasions for a meeting with an administrator, etc. Most interactions will take place in the Vestibule and all visitors will be required to wear a face covering.

Water Fountains – Scholars will each have their own personal water bottle. All water fountains will remain closed for use.

Cohorts – Scholars will remain together with the same group of students throughout the day to limit contact with others.


HEALTH AND SAFETY – CLEANING AND DISINFECTING

Bathrooms – Cleaning will take place several times throughout the day and will be logged daily on the

Lavatory Doors

Equipment – During Physical Education, Students will each have their own set of equipment for the

period. Cleaning will take place between periods, before another class uses the same equipment.

Supplies – Each Scholar will be given their own personal set of supplies and will not be asked to share

basic school supplies.

Hand Washing – Scholars will be required to wash their hands either with soap and water or hand

sanitizer before breakfast, lunch and snack time, whenever changing locations, upon arrival and dismissal

and after using the lavatory.


HEALTH AND SAFETY – CLEANING AND DISINFECTING

Cleaning – All touch surfaces will be sanitized multiple times during the day meeting or exceeding

Department of Health and CDC Guidelines.

Playground – Will be available on a limited basis, following regulations.

Deep Cleaning Weekly – an electrostatic sprayer will be used to disinfect surfaces throughout the

school weekly.

HEPA Filter – Installed in the vestibule to sterilize airborne and surface viruses.


HEALTH AND SAFETY – DAILY SCREENING

Temperature Checks – Scholars and all employees will be screened daily upon entering the building. Parents are expected to make sure that their child is fever free before getting on the school bus.

Screening Questions – Parents are expected to keep their child home if they:

Have a temperature exceeding 100 degrees Fahrenheit

Show any of the following Symptoms:

Have come into contact with anyone who has tested positive to Covid in the past 14 days

* Cough * Lack of Appetite * Loss of Taste or Smell

* Rash * Fatigue * Headache * Muscle Aches

* Sore Throat * Shortness of Breath * Diarrhea * Nausea or Vomiting

Families should notify the School Nurse immediately if any of they answer yes to any of the above points and to report their child’s absence.

Have traveled to a state designated by the Governor as having travel restrictions due to the high rate of infection.


HEALTH AND SAFETY – CONTAINMENT

Nurse’s Office – Moved to the Farm Room

Close to the Front Door

Has a dedicated Bathroom

Has a “Covid” Containment Room for any Scholar showing Symptoms of Covid –

isolated away from the normal Clinic Area

Plenty of Space to Spread Students Out who visit regularly for medications, minor

scrapes and other non-Covid related concerns


HEALTH AND SAFETY –TESTING AND CONTACT TRACING

Symptoms of Covid -19

Before any Scholar can return to school after showing symptoms of Covid-19, parents will be

required to obtain a Covid-19 test result for their child.

Parents are expected to quarantine their child for 14 days, if they have:

Come into contact with someone who has tested positive for Covid-19

If they have traveled to a state or location on the Governor’s restricted Travel List.


HEALTH AND SAFETY –TESTING AND CONTACT TRACING

Positive Cases of Covid-19

Parents will be expected to report to school if their child has tested positive for Covid-19 or have

come in contact with someone who has tested positive for Covid-19.

The School will immediately contact the Erie County Health Department to begin Contact Tracing.

The School will notify the families of Scholars who have come in Contact with this individual and they

will be asked to isolate for at least ten days.

Students testing positive for Covid-19 may return to school after three days of being fever free

without the use of fever reducing medication and with the improvement of symptoms.

Student who test positive for Covid-19, but do not show any symptoms may return to school after

being Quarantined for 14 days.

Parents will be required to obtain a Covid-19 test for their child if they have shown any symptoms of

Covid-19 prior to returning to school.
