Look for similarities between the children’s experiences and the specific religious experience For our group we have to plan an activity for the Pedagogical principle: Look for similarities between the children’s experiences and the specific religious experience. Learning Objectives: To able to think about the value of particular physical items. To learn about the five 5k’s in Sikhism. Resources: o Pictures and/or physical 5k’s o Colouring pens/pencils o Desert Island picture on the board o Desert Island worksheet o Sikh music - https://www.youtube.com/watch? v=TifX6NDCPCg Activity: The class will learn about the importance of the 5 K’s in Sikhism. The class will then be asked to reflect about 5 important items in their lives, and why they are important to them, as a whole class discussion, starting with Think, Pair, Share. The class will then be given individual desert island worksheet, where they will be introduced to the concept of being on a desert island and only being able to take with them 5 items. They will draw these items on the sheets. Throughout the session we will have mini-plenaries where we will pause discuss the children’s items, giving them an opportunity to show their work. Whilst the children are working, we will play the calming Sikh music. Opportunities for Assessment: Think, Pair, Share Discussions to why they have chosen particular items
