TRANSCRIPT
Rosa has been volunteer-
ing at St. Mark for the
past school year. She
teaches a first grade reli-
gious education class and
also helps with the Edge
junior high group. Rosa became a volunteer
through Fr. John. She was
invited by Fr. John to help
after she attended the li-
turgical leadership confer-
ence “One Bread One
Cup.” Helping with RE
has allowed Rosa to grow
to love teaching kids about
God their father and all the wonderful things the
Church has to offer.
In Rosa’s free time she
loves to
read,
write and
spend
time with
her
friends family. She also enjoys
drawing, longboarding, and
attending Mass.

Life Teen: The Race for President
Little Tots Takes a Field Trip to Church
Our little tots went on a
field trip to Church! At the
Church they toured the
Holy Water Font, and
practiced blessing them-
selves, kneeling and prayer
posture. They loved going
to the Church so much that
they went on an additional
field trip to get ashes!
Check out pictures of their
Church adventure.
Our high schoolers at Life
Teen recently had an activity
that called for a presidential
campaign. The winner of the
campaign has the honor of
helping plan the end-of-the-
year Life Teen party. Check
out the campaign slogans of
each of the candidates:
S t . M a r k R E H a p p e n i n g s
“Through the intercession of Saint Blaise, bishop and martyr, may God deliver
you from every disease of the throat and from every other illness: In the name
of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.”
Mini Liturgies at RE K-5
P a g e 3 V O L U M E I I , I S S U E X I I I
Our RE K-5 program seeks to
offer “mini liturgies” where we
are able to tie in major feasts
and holy days into our weekly
RE program.
In honor of St. Blaise (bishop
and martyr) Fr. John and Fr.
Rudy came to RE to offer the
traditional blessing of throats
through the intercession of St.
Blaise.
Additionally, Fr. John came on
the Tuesday before Ash
Wednesday to bring RE stu-
dents and families ashes.
What do movies have to do with
Scripture? Ask a middle schooler! At
Edge our junior high teens brain-
stormed secular movies (and movie
quotes) that connected to specific
passages from Scripture. Our teens
are learning how to find God in all
things and identify the sacred within
the ordinary.

PRAYER What can you do this lent to increase your prayer as a family?
Stations of the Cross:
You and your family can join us for Stations of the Cross every Friday of Lent at 6:00 pm in the Church. Fol-
lowing the Stations there is soup in the Narthex. It’s a great way to pray together as a family and have fel-
lowship with other St. Mark parishioners.
Confession:
Bring your family to our parish penance service on Monday, March 16th from 5:30-6:30 in the Church. We
also regularly offer confession on Saturdays at 3:30 pm and Tuesdays at 7:00 pm.
Daily Devotionals:
There are many Catholic daily devotionals you can receive via email for Lent that are ideal for Adults. There
is also a family-centered devotional you can sign up for at:
www.holyheroes.com/Lenten-Adventure-s/37.htm
More Resources for Your Family This Lent
GIVING How can you give to others this season of Lent?
CRS Rice Bowl:
Collect money throughout Lent in your rice bowl for those in need. CRS distributes the money to countries
in desperate need. To get a rice bowl, contact [email protected]
Give of Your Time:
Try a new ministry. There are many ministries as well as local organizations that are in need of volunteers.
Casa Maria and Reachout Women’s Center are a couple of great places always looking for help.
Clean Out Your Closet:
Go through your possessions and find gently used items to donate. Everyone in your family can commit to
donate a certain amount of items for those less fortunate.
FASTING What can you and your family do to sacrifice together this Lent?
Meatless Meals:
You can cook meatless meals as a family as a way of sacrificing this Lent. Catholic Relief Services (CRS) has
several meatless recipes from various countries. The recipes also educate about the poverty other countries
experience. You can find recipes here: https://www.crsricebowl.org/recipe
Fast from Media Together:
Limit the amount of time you watch TV, or use phones/tablets when together as a family. Try not having the
radio on in the car and using that time to pray together.
