The College of Engineering and Technology (CET), MUST, have
organized its 3rd
International Conference on Computing:
Communication, Networks and Security (IC3NS-2018) during February
23-24, 2018. The two-day mega event had involvement of around 500
delegates, encompassing the galaxy of experts of National and
International pursuits, academia, persons from reputed industries and
students. The conference was inaugurated in Swami Haridas Sabhagar
with auspicious Goddess Saraswati Vandana, Lamp Lighting and
Garlanding Ceremony of Goddess Saraswati followed by University’s
Theme Song. The inaugural function was fascinated by the presence of
renowned and eminent persons, Guest of Honour, Mr. Karan Nangru
(Managing Director, Xebia, USA), Guest of Honour, Mr. A. R. Kaka
(IBM, India), Guest of Honour, Prof. Dharmendra Singh (IIT Roorkee),
Chief Guest, Padma Shri Prof. Deepak B. Phatak (IIT Bombay), Prof.
Rahul Banerjee (Director, LNMIIT), Prof. Mahesh Bundele (Dean,
R&D, Poornima University), Prof. S. C. Jain (Rajasthan Technical
University, Kota), Prof. Deepak Garg (Bennett University), Prof. Vinod
Sharma (University of Jammu), Prof. Himanshu Aggarwal (Punjabi
University, Patiala), Prof. S. R. Biradar (SDM-Dharwad, Karnataka),
Prof. (Dr.) M. K. Madaan ( Hon’ble President, Mody University of
Science and Technology), Prof. V. K. Jain (Conference Chairman &
Dean, CET), Prof. Anil Kumar (Conference Secretary & Head, Dept. of

The dignitaries on the dais released the Conference souvenir,
followed by the release of CET’s Biannual Journal, Mody University
International Journal of Computing and Engineering Research, and
Brochure for next conference i.e. 4th
International Conference on
Emerging Trends in Communication, Control and Computing
(ICONC3).
In 2017, the University has initiated a tradition of recognizing some
eminent persona of the engineering domain, having remarkable
contribution to the research community and society at large, by
conferment of Mody University Engineering Excellence Award.
In 2017, this prestigious award was conferred upon to Prof. D. P.
Kothari, a renowned Academician in Electrical Engineering. This year,
Mody University Engineering Excellence Award-2018 was conferred
upon to Padma Shri Prof. Deepak B. Phatak, IIT Bombay, in the
inaugural function of IC3NS-2018.
In the subsequent session of keynote addresses, Prof. Deepak B.
Phatak, shared his words of wisdom on the topic “Blended MOOCs”
and emphasized upon new paradigms in the process of teaching and
learning. Mr. A.R. Kaka from IBM delivered his thought provoking talk
on “Industry Transformation”. Mody University Young Teacher Award-
2018 was conferred upon Dr. Nistha Kesswani (Central university of
Rajasthan) and Dr. Vijay Kumar (Thapar University) with a cash prize
of INR 5500/- each along with certificate and memento. As per the
special recommendation of the jury members of Young Teacher Award
competition, the Special Jury Commendation Award for Young Teacher
Award-2018 was conferred upon Dr. Ayesha Butalia (Dean, Academic
Research, PGMCE, Pune). The Best Ph.D. Thesis Award-2018 had
undergone a very rigorous completion amongst various competes and
finally conferred upon Dr. Abid Sarwar (University of Jammu)
containing cash prize of INR 5,000/- along with memento and
certificate. The title of his thesis was “Artificial Intelligence based
Prognostic Framework for Clinical Diagnosis”. In Best M.Tech. Thesis
Award Competition, the first runner up position was secured by Mr.
Sumit Bansal, Punjabi University, Patiala and awarded with cash prize
of INR 2,000/- along with memento and certificate whereas Ms.
Ranjana Thalore, CET, MUST has won the award with cash prize of
INR 3,000/- along with memento and certificate. The students
participated in poster and project competition and have shown their
creativity and skills by portraying their innovative ideas on posters and
presented their technical skills through Hardware Project and Software
Projects. Total 46 posters, 19 software projects and 16 hardware projects
were presented by the students in the group of two or more.
After the technical sessions, the delegates proceeded for high tea
followed by an entertaining cultural programme. The students of CET
have given mesmerizing performances encompassing solo dance, solo
singing, group dances, mime and group singing.
On the second day, Prof Deepak Garg, an illustrious professor (CSE
Dept., Bennett University) thrown the spotlight on the emerging area of
Deep Learning. Prof. Garg has also discussed about the future prospects
along with its vibrant applications for the society. Furthermore, Mr.
Karan Nangru has delivered his keynote address on latest technologies
and discussed Xebia Engagement Model. Afterwards, the brainstorming
session of panel discussion was begun and Prof. Vinod Sharma, Prof.
Himanshu Aggarwal, Mr. Karan Nangru, Dr. Nishtha Kesswani, Dr.
Ayesha Butalia and Prof. N. K. Joshi deliberated on the theme “Big
Data and its Management: Issues and Concerns”. The discussion was
followed by the question and answer session.
In the last session of Valedictory was graced by presence of Chief
Guest, Prof. Bhagirath Singh (Vice-Chancellor, MGSU, Bikaner). The
other members on the dais were Guest of Honour, Prof. Vinod Sharma,
Prof. Himanshu Agarwal, Prof. S.R. Biradar, Prof. V. K. Jain, Prof. Anil
Kumar and Dr. Puneet Kumar.
Special Lecture on Research Methodology was organized for the III
year and IV year B.Tech. students during February 15-16, 2018. The
renowned person Dr. B. R. Patil shared his 50 years of research, training
& consulting experience and provided the detailed information about the
purpose of undertaking research, how to conduct the research,
questionnaires design etc. to the students.

Two-day Workshop on Industry Oriented Software &
Hardware Training for Biomedical Engineers
Department of Biomedical Engineering in association with Pamtrons
Healthcare Devices, Mumbai organized Two-day Workshop on Industry
Oriented Software & Hardware Training for Biomedical Engineers
during January 29-30, 2018 at CET, Mody University of Science and
Technology. The objective of the workshop is to provide information
and hands on training about latest trends in Healthcare hardware and
Software Engineering Industry to the students and faculty.
Dr. V.K Manohar delivered a lecture on Importance of Biomedical
Engineering, Scope and Challenges. Mr. Paresh Modh and Milind
Thorat demonstrated CARDIOPULMONARY RESUSCITATION
(CPR) Technique and provided hands on training to the students.
Mr. Paresh Modh and Milind Thorat provided hands on training on
clinical and ICU hardware and Dr. V.K. Manohar delivered lecture on
Matlab application in biomedical signal processing and Image
Processing. Dr. V. K. Manohar provided hands on training on
Biomedical Signal and Image processing software programming. Mr.
Paresh Modh and Milind Thorat demonstrated android based critical
care biomedical equipment and Diabetic foot care equipment.
A discussion held about Career and Job Opportunities in biomedical
Engineering field. After discussion Pamtrons Healthcare Devices,
Mumbai had one to one interaction with students of Biomedical
Engineering. All third year Biomedical Students received offer of
summer internship and chance to get absorb in industry after successful
training. Certificates were distributed among the participant by Prof.
V.K. Jain (Dean CET), Dr. V.K. Manohar (Chief Executive Officer
,TechMaven private limited and Vice President, TechMahee Pvt. Ltd.
Hyderabad) and Vote of Thanks given by Dr. Sandeep Jaiswal
Coordinator of Workshop.
PBL Prize Distribution Ceremony-2018
The initiative of Project Based Learning was taken by the College of
Engineering and Technology to make the students compatible and
strong enough to face the challenges of the real world.
The projects were presented by a group of 4-5 students in each
discipline under the guidance of their mentors and were judged by a
panel of experts for the same. Top three projects were selected to be
represented in each discipline. All the top 3 selected projects were again
presented to a panel of experts during an exhibition which was
conducted on January 11, 2018 and overall three projects were selected
from I, II and III years respectively.
To felicitate the achievers, the Prize distribution ceremony was
organized on February 15, 2018 by the combined efforts of the
dignitaries and the students. The chief guest for the ceremony was Dr.
B. R. Patil, an internationally recognized personality. The event started
with Lamp lightening and Saraswati Vandna. This was followed by
speech of Dean CET, Dr. V. K. Jain about the idea behind PBL and its
benefits. Dr. Sudhir Y Kumar, HOD EE Department and PBL
Coordinator introduced the PBL. Dean CASH, Dr. Atul Kumar
motivated the gathering with his words. The kind words of the chief
guest and the mentors encouraged the students and the winners were
awarded with certificates and cash prizes.

CET Rocks in Vivacity’18, Cultural Fest of LNMIIT
Broadway Impersonators (Dramatics Team), Essence (Fashion and
Modelling Team) and Imbatible Mavericks (Dance Team) of CET,
MUST participated in a series of events held in Vivacity’18, the cultural
fest of LNMIIT, Jaipur.
Broadway Impersonators, the Dramatics Team was felicitated with
30+ certificates and a cash prize of Rs. 15,000/-. The fest commenced
on February 2, 2018. In the street play competition, “Hunkaar” CET
throbbed the streets with a vivacious street play named ‘WE-
INSENSITIVE’, depicted the ignorant and insensitive behaviour of our
society on a wide spectrum of issues. CET bagged 1st runner up position
and was awarded with a cash prize of Rs. 7,500/-. The Dance Team
Imbatible Mavericks also qualified for the final round of ‘Razmatazz-
the dance competition’ by competing with 13 other teams out of which
only 6 teams were selected for the final round. In the first round the
dance team was given the tittle of “Best Team” by the judges. Anushka
Kapoor mesmerized judges by her solo classical dance performance at
event ‘Mudra-the solo dance competition’ and secured 2nd
runner up
position in the event.
In stage play competition “Rangshaala” which took place on
February 3, 2018 CET presented a stage play ‘Adhvika’, the journey of
a young girl from a victim to a victor. The act received laurels from
esteemed judges. Also, the phenomenal performance of Himangi Gopal
as ‘Adhvika’ was awarded with the “Best Actress” Award. Special
mentions were given to Vandita Tanwer for “Best Actor” Award along
with Mandvi Raje Singh and Tanya Banarjee for exceptional acting and
narration skills. Essence the Fashion and Modelling Team qualified for
the final round of ‘Vogue-the fashion and modelling competition’ by
competing with 13 other teams out of which only 6 teams were selected
for the final round.
Upholding the legacy of Vivacity’17, on February 4, 2018 CET
once again bagged 1st runner up position in Mukh Abhinay, the Mime
competition and was awarded with a cash prize of Rs. 7500/-.
Holi represents the arrival of spring and the victory of good over evil.
This festival of colours is celebrated enthusiastically in India in the
month of March.
The same enthusiasm was seen when Holi was organized in campus
of MUST on February 25, 2018, starting from 2:30 pm and ending it at
sharp 4:30 pm when everyone gathered in front of hostel 13s1 and
coloured the sky and air with vibrant colours. The colourful world of
ours was a pleasure to see and the radiant community was all drenched
in water. This event was even attributed when snacks and the divine
Thandai was served to all gatherings. The event was extremely fun
filled, and may wish to celebrate the togetherness in coming years.
We also give a vote of thanks to the coordinators of the event and also to
the organizing committee for the same.
Under the mentorship of Dr. Uma Kumari, Afaaz was held on February
25, 2018 on a Sunday morning, in room ABB 01 of CET. Alfaaz that
was conducted by Penumbra, the Official Public speaking Society of
CET, successfully managed to write history. It was an Intra University
Event that basically focused on providing a platform to budding writers,
poets and orators to showcase their talents and make people realize the
power of words.
It was a one of its kind event with over 70 people attending it and
about 52 performances, among which top 13 were awarded with
certificates and cash prizes. The overall winner received an amount of
₹500 and a certificate of recognition, the top 6 received a cash prize of
₹200 and a certificate and the rest 6 were awarded with certificates.

There were different categories like Poetry Slam, Comic Act,
Monologue, Instrumental Narration, and Story Telling etc. which
accommodated the interests of all individuals. Our esteemed judges Dr.
Mahesh Sharma and Mr. Vinay Tiwari took out their precious time to
make this event a success. The event was also graced by the presence of
Prof. V. K. Jain (Dean CET) and Prof. D. K. Agarwal (Dean
COBMEC). A special performance by the Vice President of Penumbra
Ms. Aditi Singh left everyone spell-bound. The zeal of the Penumbra
members and the participants made the event worthwhile.
