Annual Report2019
2019 was an incredible year for the Riverside Church! We could say that for a lot of different reasons but if you could choose one word that served as an overarching focus for our house in 2019, it would be PRAYER.
For our leadership, it began in January as we gathered for our annual retreat on our hands and knees praying for God to be pres-ent and to move in our house. That desire for us to be a people of prayer carried over into the year as we spent several weeks praying together through our Prayer Partner Challenge. And then in the fall, we spent 21 Days of Prayer praying around the clock for our church, for our community, and for the world!
We prayed. God answered. And we stand amazed at all He has done this past year in us, through us, and for us!
In this annual report, youʼll see numbers and pictures, but they are all snapshots of the larger story of Godʼs activity among us in 2019. His presence in the past continues to give us hope for the future and excitement as we look ahead! Itʼs with grateful hearts that we give God praise for 2019!

FIRST RESPONDERS LUNCH - Each month Riverside is honored to serve the men and women who so faithfully serve our community lunch! On average, we provide lunch for approx 60 First Responders!
On a monthly basis we respond to neighbors in our community who are in need, providing referrals to resources, financial assistance in emergency situations, and prayer with them and for them.
In 2019, we helped individuals and families connected to Riverside through financial assistance. Weʼve done this in a variety of ways depending on the need. From helping with housing to providing counseling through CounselingWorks (ChristianWorks) and in many other ways.
In addition to this, a number of our members have helped others on an individual basis with meals, money, help and transportation throughout 2019 outside of the Benevolence ministry.

Once again we want to say "Thank You” for being a church of uncommon generosity. Because of your giving we have a budget surplus for 2019! We are grateful that Riverside is a church of faithful and faith-filled givers and we believe that your generosity will continue to bless this church in unseen ways for generations to come!

Each year at Riverside we set aside one special day to give towards missions. We call it Harvest Sunday. This gives us a unique opportunity to practice uncommon generosity as we ENGAGE in what matters most throughout the world by giving sacrificially to further the mission of God around the globe. In 2019, over $115,469 was pledged and given on Harvest Sunday. These funds will continue our support of the Webers in Greece, our work with Reach Out Honduras, Apartment Life, Riverside Student Missions, as well as College Age Missions! Thank you for giving to missions!

STORIES THAT SHAPED US
21 DAYS OF PRAYER SPIRITUALITYTHE REALITY OF THE SPIRIT IN YOU
When we first had the idea to spend 21 days as a church in prayer, no one was thinking it would be 21 continuous days in prayer. In fact, when the idea first came to us, people thought we were crazy. But then we asked this question, Why not? Why not strive to be this devoted to prayer for Riverside, for our community, and for the world? Weʼll never forget the enormous banner that we displayed in the foyer where people could sign up to pray! And weʼll never forget the impact those prayers had for us individually and collectively as we united our hearts together in prayer.
Hands down, our summer series on the Holy Spirit was by far the most impactful of the year. It was the most watched and most downloaded series as well. Itʼs our desire to be a church that is filled by and led by the Holy Spirit of God. Itʼs His Spirit living inside of us that changes absolutely everything about us! As the apostle Paul once said, "For all who are led by the Spirit of God are children of God.” - Romans 8.14. We believe the Holy Spirit empowers the people of God for the purpose of God, which is above all else, to tell other people the wonderful things about Jesus! May the Holy Spirit of God continue to fill us and lead us as we enter this new year!

THE WEBERSIn November of 2019, Nathan & Michelle Weber returned on furlough after their first fifteen months on the mission field. They brought with them stories of how God is moving in the lives of refugees in the Mediterranean Rim. We sent them off again after a few weeks with blessings and prayers, celebrating all that the Holy Spirit is doing in and through them. What a blessing it is to see two of Riversideʼs own follow Godʼs call to help raise up disciples in another part of the world.

MIDDLE SCHOOL RETREAT
Each Spring, Riverside Student Ministry heads up to Texoma Youth Camp for a special weekend that we call “Middle School Retreat”. High School students plan, teach, lead small groups and lead games for our Middle School Students. This has become a favorite weekend for two reasons. First, to a middle schooler, a high school student can be simultaneously the coolest person on the planet and the most intimidating individual to talk to. This weekend allows these barriers to come down. When a high school student takes the time to pour into a middle schooler, the impact is tremendous. Secondly, High School Students love to be challenged. In 2019, we had five high schoolers deliver messages to the middle school students and six high schoolers lead small group discussions. These students were stretched in ways they usually arenʼt, their faith was deepened through the preparation of the messages and at the same time, the middle schoolers were blessed to hear from some people who have been in their shoes very recently. Faith is deepened, unity is fostered, and Christ is revealed in new ways, because this Middle School Retreat is always a highlight of the year for RSM.
2019 was an incredible year in the life of our church! As we move into a new year and a new decade together, we believe God is moving in our hearts to do infinitely more than we could even imagine! All praise be to the God and
Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. May Jesus be lifted up in this place and may He draw all people to Himself!
