LA 1st Edition: The Trendsetters

This edgy new boutique is in a warehouse building in Hollywood, which used to be the headquarters for tycoon Howard Hughes. It is off the beaten shopping path by intention. If you don’t look closely you could walk right past it. With minimal signage and a locked front

door, you must seek out this destination. Once inside…three rooms, sparsely decorated, concrete floors, but WOW what an EYE she has. Designers such as Puerto Rican star

Wilfredo Rosado, European designers Noor Fares and Ileana Makri and the fabulous New York based Pamela Love are a few of the designers seen here. This is also home to the first

boutique for California based Hoorsenbuhs.

Maxfield

Maxfield- the origin of edge. Maxfield is who I want to be, but just don’t think I am cool enough to pull off. Balmain, Margiela, and Rick Owens hang the racks. The jewelry brings that same Rock and Roll edge and does not disappoint. Loree Rodkin, hot new

designer out of London - Sabine G, Lynn Ban, Federica Rettore, and Aurora Lopez Mejia are just some of the cool kids on this Melrose block.

Roseark

Entering Roseark is a treat from the second you gain entrance through the appointment only gate. Welcomed by rose petals up the walk with the sounds of water splashing from the Buddah fountain. Who knew such an oasis existed in the busy shopping area right off of Santa Monica. I wanted to stay and enjoy but knew there was more to partake inside.

Entering the house is just as charming. Jewelry displayed in unique cases, wood floors, a bowl of plated gold headband crowns. Each room held new surprises- A $17,000 Ludevine

necklace hanging casually on a mannequin that through the forces of nature I just had to pick up and try on. Ludevine, Jaquie Aiche, Jamie Joseph, Arik Kastan, Jennifer Meyer are just a

few of the lucky ones who get to call this a home.

Fred Segal

Oh Fred, the epitome of California. Laid back vibe, bright white and sunny store with ivy growing over the outside. Located in cheerful Santa Monica this store is home to not one but three jewelry boutiques. Nina, Bettina Duncan, and Fred Segal Rocks. Dannijo, Fallon, Giles and Brother, Erikson Beamon, Vita Fede are

some of the variety of hip designers on display here.
