The Annual July Blood Drive, sponsored by the Knights of Columbus, was a huge success due to the many people who sacrificed their time to donate blood, especially during the

summer, when there is a shortage. Thank you to all the donors and the various volunteers who helped at this event!

SUNDAY “…all ate and were filled.”

Luke 9:17

O that day!

O our waiting To be gathered For Mass! Lord, we taste Your presence, Like good bread Placed in our hands. We gather Your love Like a sweet fruit Filled with the sun. O our feast To be with you, Lord! Your body and your blood, Your life surrendered, Your life poured out, These we sing. They are joy To the world. O our light To listen to your Word And to welcome it As food That strengthens the soul And the heart! O our Lord! To believe in you, That is happiness!

If you are going through a difficult time of “waiting on the Lord,” repeat to yourself the promises of your faith. Your Father is a kind and loving God who cares about you beyond all comprehension. He sent his Son

Jesus to suffer for you and redeem you. Jesus will never abandon you. He weeps with you in sorrows and rejoices with you in your victories. You will live with him forever in his glory. Let these promises sink into

the very core of your being so that they become the foundation of an unshakable faith.

Prayer: Lord, as I wait for you, teach me prayers of intercession so that my faith can move mountains. Help me to persevere as I pray for my family, your church, and the world.

St. Alphonsus Liguori, Bishop and Doctor, Italy (1696-1787)—Feast, Aug. 1 “To cast fire upon the earth—that is my mission! And how I wish it were already blazing fiercely! Nothing in the world can set hearts ablaze with love for God like the Blessed Sacrament.” (St. Alphonsus Liguori)

St. John Vianney, Cure of Ars, Patron of Priests, France (1786-1859)—Feast, Aug. 4 “The many wonders of creation can only fill us with astonishment and admiration. But when we speak of the most holy Eucharist we can say that here is to be found the miracle of divine love for us.... Has there been, or will there ever be, a nobler or more magnanimous love than that which He has shown us in the sacrament of love?” (St. John Vianney)

The Transfiguration of the Lord—Feast, Aug. 6 “The heavens proclaim his justice and all peoples see his glory.” (Ps 97) At exposition of the Blessed Sacrament we recall the Transfiguration of Jesus. We behold Him face to face in the monstrance, which has rays like the sun. The candles recall the light of Christ’s glory and the incense the clouds that surround His presence. The stand the monstrance rests on is called “tabor.” “It is good for us to be here.” (Mt 17:4) “We all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory.” (2 Cor 3:18)

St. Dominic, Priest, Dominicans Founder, Spain (1170-1221)—Feast, Aug. 8 St. Dominic had a great love of the Holy Mass and Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament. He drew strength from the Holy Eucharist to convert souls who did not believe in the teachings of the Catholic Church.
