In 2020, Campbell County raised $3060.00 through the Ag Tag Voluntary Donation program. That’s money that goes directly to Kentucky 4-H, Kentucky FFA and Kentucky Proud to support our agriculture community (and its future) here locally and across the Commonwealth.

Agriculture is vital to the livelihood of every Kentuckian and it is through programs like Kentucky 4-H and Kentucky FFA that we continue to instill these values in youth. Each simple $10 donation made when renewing an Ag Tag culminates to have a major impact on the youth of Campbell County.

Kentucky 4-H is one of the most important and influential youth programs in our state and our county. Across Kentucky over 290,000 youth ages 9 to 19 learn about leadership, citizenship and life skills in “learn-by-doing” experiences such as communications and public speaking, through agriculture projects like livestock judging, science projects with robotics, 4-H Camp, Teen Conference, and many other 4-H programs and activities.

Here in Campbell County, over 3,000 youth belong to 4-H and are active in programs and activities such as 4-H Camp, 4-H Horse Camp, Horse and Livestock Clubs, Community Service Project Clubs, Baking Clubs, Prepare for Fair Club, Cloverbuds and the Alexandria Fair.

As we look to March for 2021 Ag Tag renewals, we ask that you remember to make your voluntary donations on

each farm license plate you renew. If every Countian renewing an Ag Tag were to make the voluntary $10 donation, $8,000.00 could be raised! Think of the impact that could have on your community and its future leaders!

Please help us in growing leaders, strengthening the agriculture community and funding opportunities for Campbell County youth this March through Ag Tag voluntary donations!

The 4-H Country Ham Project has begun! The 4-Hers first selected their hams then trimmed them and rubbed them with cure mix. Next they wrapped them in paper, placed them in socks and hung them in our shed to let the salt in the cure mix draw out the moisture. Stay tuned for updates.

The meeting of the Teen and Junior Leaders Club was called to order

on January 6, 2021 by 4-H Agent Casey Townsend. After our monthly

meeting was called to order, we said the Pledge of Allegiance and the

4-H Pledge. Leaders and Delegates were split into breakout rooms to

plan our first service learning project together. A survey was emailed

to everyone to discover which service learning project the leaders will

focus on planning. Painting Murals in the city and making blankets for

the homeless tied. Making toys for animal shelters came in 3rd. Don’t

forget we still are looking for officers to call the meeting to order and

a secretary to document what we do at our meetings. Our next

virtual meeting will be held on March 3, 2021.

The 4-H Baking club made brownies. These bakers got extra creative and mixed in some delicious add-ins they found at home!

Please Remember… Community Service Grab and Go Bags Hi everyone! As we approach the 5th month of offering the Community Service Grab and Go bags, I wanted to put out a couple reminders. These are NOT a regular grab and go. Our intent is for these to be a service project. This means the projects MUST BE RETURNED. We cannot donate anything to our local charities if I do not receive any of them back. Please make sure that if you register for these bags that you are prepared to return them. I will be making note of projects that are not returned for future bags. If you have not returned past projects, we still need them, just make sure they get to the Extension Office as soon as possible. If you are unsure which projects were to be turned in, feel free to email me and I will let you know. Also, please remember you MUST register each month in order to take a bag. If you are not registered by the cutoff date, then there will not be supplies for you. Please make sure you register by calling our office at (859) 572-2600 or visiting our website at campbell.ca.uky.edu If you have questions, you can email me at [email protected]. I hope that our future bags can bring joy to people in our community and I thank those who have participated in past bags. Sincerely, Mary Kay Reilly
