We replaced an ag ing audio sw itch for Reno’s reg ional E M S organiz at ion, RE M SA . The pr imary emergenc y communicat ions system could be dow n indef in i te ly i f the sw itch fa i led . RE M SA wanted a computer control led sw itch w ith severa l custom features that our standard sof tware d id not offer at the t ime. R aven responded posi t ive ly and de l ivered the hardware and new sof tware package in less than three months .

RE M SA now ha s the abi l i ty to control the sw itch in the communicat ions room from the ir console. They are a l so able to make and break conferences between ambulances , hospita l s , d i spatchers , pol ice, and 911 ca l l s w ith the c l ick of a mouse.

At the heart of the M4x Communicat ion System are DSP (dig i ta l s ignal processor)- powered “modules”. The M4x Blade now features an integrated s ignal - to -noise voter/comparator. Using a robust a lgor i thm, the M4x SNR Voter/Comparator can accurate ly mea sure radio s ignal qual i ty. It prov ides a number of vot ing opt ions .

GREATER FLEXIBILITY

The voter analyzes noise in the h igher f requencies of the voice band where l i t t le , i f any, voice energ y i s present . Signal i s ana lyzed in the lower f requencies where voice energ y i s g reatest .

A vote group consi sts of two or more “vot ing” rece iver channel s and one or more outputs (conf igured a s e i ther expansion or console ports) .

By se lec t ing the transmitter steer ing opt ion the la st voted rece iver becomes the console transmit channel in subsequent console - to -mobi le communicat ions . A number of addit ional opt ions for transmitter steer ing can be considered a s wel l .

The Sw itched Network Interface system a l lows you to access the publ ic te lephone network f rom a R aven order w ire network or f rom a R aven br idge. The SNI shel f prov ides the interconnect between a 4-w ire audio ser v ice channel and a 2-w ire subscr iber l ine or a loop start PBX.

The 4-w ire ser v ice channel ut i l izes DTMF signal ing to access the 2-w ire publ ic sw itched network . Converse ly, the 2-w ire publ ic sw itched network can access the 4-w ire ser v ice channel by d ia l ing the number of the 2-w ire l ine connected to the SNI system.
