CCS: 6.RP.1. Understand the concept of a ratio and use ratio language to describe a ratio relationship between two quantities

Objectives: • Students will write ratios in three

different ways• Students will write and find equal

ratios• Students will write ratios in

simplest form

Page 4: Ratios Lesson 6-1. Write each Fraction in Simplest Form: 1. 4/12 = 2. 18/27 = 3. 14/63 = 4. 3/48 = Check Skills You’ll Need 1/3 2/3 2/9 1/16

A ratio is a comparison of two numbers by division.

Each number in a ratio is called a term.

An equal ratio is when two ratios name the same number

A ratio is a comparison between two numbers by division.

It can be written in three different ways:

Ratios

5 to 25 : 2 5

When two ratios name the same number, they are equal. It’s like writing an equivalent fraction.

Equal Ratios

20 : 30Equal Ratios:

10 : 15 2 : 3 80 : 120

Ratios can be written in simplest form. Divide both terms in the ratio by their GCF.
