Converting Mixed Numbers to Improper Fractions

Multiply the denominator and the whole number. Use that product and add it to the numerator. Keep the original denominator.

Converting an Improper Fraction to a Mixed Number

Divide the numerator by the denominator. Keep dividing until the decimal terminates or repeats. The quotient is the whole number, the remainder is the numerator, and the divisor is the denominator

Writing Fractions as Decimals

Divide the numerator by the denominator.

Writing Mixed Numbers as Decimals

Convert it into a improper fraction then divide.

Use the whole number as the ones digit of your decimal. Divide the fraction as you normally would and mentally combine.

Writing Decimals as Fractions

Determine what the place value is for the last digit of the decimal and use that number as your denominator. Use the digits for the decimal as the numerator. Simplify if possible.

Adding and Subtract Like Fractions

To add or subtract like fractions, add or subtract the numerators and keep the same denominator. Simplify if possible. Keep track of your sign.

Adding Mixed Numbers with Like Denominators
