CREATING AMAZING

To create amazing, you have to be relentless, do things the hard way. Invent,

then reinvent. That’s why, when developing our very first car, the LS 400,

we invested over one billion dollars and tasked 60 designers and 1,400

engineers with creating a sedan that revolutionised the luxury car market.

Fifteen years later, in 2004, we launched the world’s first premium hybrid – the

RX 400h crossover. Today, we are the unchallenged leader in this field – and

offer a comprehensive range of Full Hybrid luxury cars – including the ultra

clean and efficient CT 200h luxury compact. After an intense development

programme, this year we also launch the all-new GS and latest RX models.

Featuring a bold new Lexus ‘face’ with a distinctive spindle grille, both are

designed to reset benchmarks for performance, comfort, craftsmanship and

advanced technology.

BOLD AND DYNAMIC DESIGN

Today, all Lexus cars are created using a bold, new version of our L-finesse

(L = Leading edge) design language. The focal point of our most recent models

is a unique front ‘spindle grille’ that dramatically combines cooling functionality

with an artistic interpretation of the air flowing through it. Surrounding the

grille, jewel-like headlights greatly enhance vision, while arrowhead-shaped

LED daytime running lights give every Lexus an unmistakable aura. In profile,

the muscular stance of each car contrasts with its long streamlined cabin

section, giving both dynamic presence and exceptional roominess. As well

as beauty, we also create class-leading aerodynamics; with innovative details

like closable vents on the GS 450h grille, or the seamless integration of the

wiper blade underneath the RX’s rear spoiler.

ENGINEERED FOR ENJOYMENT

Developed in the world’s most advanced driving simulator, and then tested over

many thousands of kilometres, our cars are more engaging and pleasurable

to drive than ever. For refined and precise handling, we first engineer the

stiffest chassis possible and develop racetrack-proven suspension. Then we

test the car’s aerodynamic characteristics, and even investigate the airflow in

and around the wheel arches – an effect we perfected on the Nürburgring

with our LFA V10 supercar. Amazingly, we discovered that adding a central

groove in the wheel arch profile improves steering response, while fitting

a small aerodynamic fin under the CT 200h increases high-speed stability.

For ultimate performance, newly developed Lexus Dynamic Handling – which

includes Dynamic Rear Steering – delivers enhanced driving enjoyment in

the GS 450h F SPORT sedan.

EFFORTLESS COMFORT

Building on the tradition of Japanese hospitality, and for your absolute comfort,

we design cars that anticipate your needs in every way. For instance, we have

recently developed a breakthrough new air conditioning system that releases

negatively charged nanoe® particles into the cabin. These help purify the cabin

air and effectively deodorise seats and upholstery. In addition, because their

moisture content is approximately 1,000 times that of conventional ions, they

have a healthy moisturising effect on your skin and hair. Another thoughtful

touch is the rear-view camera available in all our cars, so you can reverse

without straining your neck. And, for the ultimate in comfort, all four doors on

our LS luxury sedan feature ultra-quiet electric motors to pull them fully shut.

IMPECCABLY FINISHED

Every Lexus is designed to keep you perfectly relaxed, even on the longest

journeys. From an electrically adjustable driver’s seat (on the new GS it

moves in 18 directions and took five years to develop), you will notice how

the tranquil cockpit surrounds you for a safe and focused drive. Everything

you touch is exquisitely finished: such as the real wood inserts lacquered at

Yamaha’s piano factory, or the beautifully stitched leatherwork. Outside, the

impeccable paintwork has been wet-sanded by hand after each foundation

coat (a time-consuming process normally reserved for coach-built cars) and

checked by eye as well as digitally to ensure a perfect surface. All production

is overseen by Lexus ‘Takumi’ master craftspeople, who rigorously check

that every car meets our standards for smoothness before each is taken for

a final 30 km test drive.

ADVANCED TECHNOLOGY

Lexus always uses the most advanced technology to create an unforgettable

driving experience. For example, the 12.3-inch multimedia display screen

on the new GS sedan. Currently the world’s largest, its size and absolute

clarity let you display two types of information simultaneously, such as map/

audio or Lexus Night View/map. You can interact with it using Voice Control,

or Remote Touch that works as intuitively as a computer mouse. For the

ultimate in sedan luxury, the LS 600h L Full Hybrid offers a reclining rear

seat that performs ‘Shiatsu’ massage. Perhaps most importantly, all our cars

are engineered to minimise environmental impact. Take, for example, our

innovative Drive Mode Select on the CT 200h and new GS 450h that lets

you choose between ECO, NORMAL, SPORT and EV (Electric Vehicle)

driving modes.

INNOVATIVE SAFETY

Lexus leads the way in making driving safer for you and other road users.

Take, for example, Head-Up Display that projects driving data onto the

windscreen to help you concentrate on the road ahead, while Blind Spot

Monitor uses radar to warn about unnoticed overtaking vehicles. In the

dark, Lexus Night View increases safety by displaying infrared images of

potential obstacles on the 12.3-inch screen. And, now available on our GS

and LS luxury sedans, Advanced Pre-Crash uses sophisticated radar and

camera technology to warn you if you are becoming tired. It also helps you

stay in lane and activates Pre-Crash Brake Assist and Pre-Crash Seatbelt if

it senses an impact is imminent. Finally, for added protection in a collision, all

Lexus cars feature Whiplash Injury Lessening front seats and a class-leading

shield of airbags.

In 2004, we became the first luxury carmaker to perfect hybrid technology,

with the launch of the RX 400h hybrid SUV. As well as delivering incredible

power, Lexus hybrids are engineered to give outstanding fuel efficiency

combined with lower CO2 and other harmful emissions. In Europe, Lexus

Hybrid Drive surpasses all existing and future planned legislation. And, due to

their clean exhaust gases, our hybrids are eligible for substantial tax benefits

in many European countries. Select EV (Electric Vehicle) mode and a Lexus

Hybrid drives in near silence, using no petrol and emitting zero CO2 or NOX.

They are very practical too; the hybrid battery never needs to be plugged in

and occupies minimum room, resulting in generous boot space.

At present, we remain the only luxury car manufacturer to offer

a comprehensive range of Full Hybrid vehicles. Each one features an

incredibly advanced powertrain. This provides you with the ultimate smooth

and near-silent ride, seamless linear acceleration, better fuel economy and

very few harmful emissions. Today, Lexus Hybrid Drive is available in four

breakthrough Full Hybrid cars: the CT 200h compact, the RX 450h crossover,

the GS 450h performance sedan and the flagship LS 600h luxury sedan

with permanent All-Wheel Drive.

FULL HYBRID INTELLIGENCE

By intelligently combining an advanced petrol engine, electric motor(s)

and hybrid battery, Lexus Hybrid Drive is able to significantly reduce fuel

consumption while still delivering incredible performance for all types of

driving situations. In fact, no fuel is used, and no emissions are produced,

when the engine is turned off and the vehicle is operating in electric-only

mode. Additionally, you can now select EV (Electric Vehicle) mode in all

Lexus Hybrid Drive models, for electric-only, emission-free driving over short,

low-speed distances. Importantly, Lexus Full Hybrids* produce 70% fewer

harmful smog-forming emissions than the average new vehicle.

* In the more advanced hybrid vehicles, known as Full Hybrids, the combustion engine and electric motor work alongside

each other. Unlike Mild Hybrids, our vehicles not only start using electric power alone, but can also be driven solely by

electric power. At Lexus, all our hybrid vehicles are – and have always been – Full Hybrids.

START UP, DRIVING OFF

When starting off, the electric motor(s) can propel a Lexus Full Hybrid car up

to 64 km/h, with electric power being supplied from the hybrid battery. At this

point the vehicle is almost silent, uses no petrol and produces zero emissions.

NORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS

At speeds above 64 km/h the advanced petrol engine cuts in, almost silently,

but still receives assistance from the electric motor(s) when required. Through

the near perfect distribution of its dual power sources, Lexus Hybrid Drive

provides exceptional driving comfort – together with lower emissions and

fuel consumption.

FULL THROTTLE ACCELERATION

Accelerate powerfully and the electric motor(s) instantaneously supplements

the petrol engine. This delivers a surge of torque to provide powerful linear

acceleration precisely when you need it.

DECELERATION, STOPPING, BRAKING

When decelerating or coming to a halt, the petrol engine turns off, cutting

emissions to zero. Brake, or take your foot off the accelerator, and regenerative

braking harnesses the kinetic energy lost in other cars. It converts this into

electrical energy for storage in the hybrid battery, which is one reason why

you never need to recharge a Lexus Full Hybrid.

ULTRA-HIGH PERFORMANCE SEDAN

Receiving massive power from a 5.0-litre V8 sports-tuned engine, the IS F

sedan accelerates to 100 km/h in 4.8 seconds, on to a governed top speed

of 270 km/h (where permitted). Thanks to an extremely fast 8-Speed Sport

Direct Shift automatic transmission, gear changes are virtually instantaneous,

while a new Limited Slip Differential further enhances performance. Braking

is also incredibly quick, as you would expect of a car developed on the Fuji

Speedway. Double-wishbone front and multi-link rear suspension provide

precise handling, but without compromising the everyday ride comfort that

PROFESSIONAL CARE

We recommend that you always have your car

serviced by a Lexus Authorised Repairer. All

our certified diagnosis Master Technicians are

continuously kept up to date on Lexus servicing,

engineering and technology.

ENVIRONMENT

To reduce waste, parts replaced during servicing

are collected and recycled, while air conditioning

refrigerants are also recovered and reused. We are

researching more efficient dismantling technologies

for the time when the working life of your Lexus

is over, and are developing ways to use shredder

residue previously considered unrecyclable.

END-OF-LIFE VEHICLES

The legislation on end-of-life vehicles offers Lexus

drivers a new and innovative way of returning their

old vehicles to the producer.

WARRANTIES

FOR ALL VEHICLES

3-YEAR COMPREHENSIVE WARRANTY

This covers any defect attributable to a

manufacturing or assembly fault under normal

use. It applies for three years or 100,000 km

(62,000 miles), whichever comes first, with no

mileage limitation in the first year.

3-YEAR SURFACE RUST AND PAINTWORK

WARRANTY

This warranty covers your vehicle for surface

rust and paint defects appearing on any of the

painted body panels due to a fault in material or

workmanship. There is no mileage restriction.

12-YEAR CORROSION WARRANTY

The warranty offers 12 years’ coverage, regardless

of mileage, against perforation of bodywork (from

inside to outside) that develops due to corrosion

caused by faults in material or workmanship.

These warranties are transferable to subsequent

owners.

LEXUS HYBRID DRIVE MODELS

5-YEAR HYBRID COMPONENT WARRANTY

Certain components within the hybrid

drivetrain system have a 5-year or 100,000 km

(62,000 miles) warranty, whichever comes first.

MOBILITY

We want to ensure that you enjoy driving your

Lexus anywhere in Europe with complete peace

of mind. This is why we provide free Lexus Euro

Assistance 24* for the first three years of ownership.

This programme ensures your mobility, to take you

where you need to go. Part of this could include,

for example, towing, hotel accommodation, car

hire, repatriation of the vehicle and many more

services should your Lexus be immobilised, stolen,

or involved in a collision.
