Visual Arts Exam will consist of: Section A: International Art( 60 marks) Question 1: Visual Literacy = 15 marks (Two unseen and unknown images) To answer 15 marks contextual questions and questions based on the elements of art and design principles. Question 2: Long Essay for 30 marks on Conceptual Art (3 x Artists, Artworks and Movements/ Modes with descriptions and argument that must be four pages long. Question 3: Short Essay on early 19th Century Art movements from Dada, Surrealism, Pop Art, Abstract Expressionism, Photo Realism/ Hyper Realism for 15 marks ( 1 ½ page essay) Section B: South African Art( 40 marks) Question 4 & 5: 2 x Paragraph type questions for 20 marks each on Early South African Art such as Gerard Sekotho, Pemba, Irma Stern, Preller & Battiss as well as South African Art from Resistance art such as Willie Bester and Jane Alexander. Total: 15 + 30 + 15 + 20 + 20 = 100 marks. 3 hour paper. Practical Exam: Theme is “Scars In Society” Portfolio of Evidence consists of the following-Brainstorm; Words and pictures from other sources; Six thumbnail drawings; Conduct research on three artists and document; Document three ideas around the exam theme; Reflect on process and create a certain concept ; Three fully resolved drawings.
