    CONCL US ION

Conclusion of the study of Standard Operating Procedure from Big Bazaar LIC:One of the most important aspects of a retail store is that of the operational

sector. The field of operations is vital as it serves as the backbone of all back endactivities that are carried out inside the store. Standard Operating Procedure (Sop) is thevery important and functional aspect of the operational field of the store. StandardOperating Procedure is a standardized set of rules and regulation which are implementedacross each and every section of the store to ensure optimum standardization offunctionality. Standard Operating Procedure thus helps to maintain the operationalregularity and efficiency of the store ultimately leading to optimum productivity andcustomer satisfaction. We were asked to conduct audits of every section to gather aparticular and comprehensive idea of how the standard operating procedure practiceswere being adhered to.

A comprehensive study of Standard Operating Procedure audits revealed thatthere were many shortcomings at various sections/departments. These loopholes acted asthe identifying parameters where the Standard Operating Procedure practices were notadhered to or least adhered to.

With respect to current business prospect, the operational functioning aspectof a store needs to be very sound. In this regard the knowledge of SAP (Systems

    24 | P a g eEASTERN INSTITUTE FOR INTEGRATED LEARNING IN MANAGEMENT

  • 8/3/2019 Ram Project

    25/29

Application Programming) is also a very crucial aspect of the functional domain of anOperational Executive. The knowledge of SAP helps the Operational Executive to

properly regulate, supervise and check all necessary operational processes.

In todays extreme competitive market, where companies are trying their best to giveoptimum customer service and satisfaction, the implementation of effective operationalback end system is extremely important. The knowledge of SAP for the OperationalExecutive thus serves as a great importance. A store not adhering to strong operationalrules would lose out to its competitors who are equipped with better utilization andimplementation of their operational resources. So the strong implementation of StandardOperating Procedure guidelines would help achieve optimum operational efficiency, productivity and integrity of the store thus creating value addition.

From this project and the observations made, it can be concluded that theStandard Operating Procedure rules though adhered at maximum sections, theimplementation of the same should be made more stringent and comprehensive.

    LIMITATIONS

    1. When our hypothesis is rejected, then type II error.

    2. One of the most important constraints to the working deadline was lack ofsufficient time to complete the project. It means time limitation; I have tocomplete my project within 2 month.

    3. There is lack of awareness about the importance and functionality of storeoperation rules within many employees including some managers within thestores.

    RECOMENDATION / SUGGESTIONS

Young people like these brands, so increase the latest trendand colorful cloths.(F-1)

To increase the Foot falling of customer by advertise. (F- 2,3& 4).

So we should have to provide latest trend, attractive colorAnd added benefit to the customer. Because most of thecustomer like these factors.

I have some suggestions to overcome those gaps in Sops. Those

Recommendations are as follows: The grooming of the employee should be checked every day by the

department manager as it not checked every day.

    26 | P a g eEASTERN INSTITUTE FOR INTEGRATED LEARNING IN MANAGEMENT

  • 8/3/2019 Ram Project

    27/29

HR should take care of issuing Uniforms and Issued uniforms should beprominent in size for employees.

SOP rule book should be Up to date. Cleanliness and hygiene should be maintained in the store as the roof is

leaking in rainy season. The cashier should have the proper information about the running offer. Trolley basket team members should be deployed at the main entry point as

it is not followed. Share with us forms and boxes should be present at prominent locations

like cash counter. Home delivery bags should be used by the home delivery department. Metal detector should be used in the baggage counter strictly. Visual merchandising in charge should take more responsibilities for

proper positioning the mandatory signages. I-DOC and IT team have to take the responsibilities to cure the Offer

Updating problem. I-Doc should response as much as possible for updatingissues, INF and Price Mismatch problems.

Management has to influence the Cashiers to maintain the BIS sheet at thetime of cashiering.

Warehouse manager should take the responsibilities for following the FIFOmethod in warehouse.

Security persons should be in Baggage counter and Trial room area. Express counter should be used in cash counter.

    Warehouse area should be expanded.
