Trunnion Mounted Ball Valves Main Features

BODY SSEALINGTwo O-rings and graphite gasketsplaced at joins of the body components guarantee zero leakage.

DOUBLE PPISTON EEFFECTThe seat rings may be modified to perform the DOUBLE PISTON EFFECTon customer's requirement. In thiscase, the pressure acting on both theexternal and internal side of the seatrings push them against the ball.Therefore each seat grants therequired tightness. This design featureallowed an additional sealing function,but to release the possible over pressure developed in the body cavityit is necessary to use a safety reliefvalve on the body.

STEM SSEALINGThe perfect sealing is granted by theuse, as a standard feature, of the twoO-rings and a graphite gasket retainedby stem cover. The graphite gasketcan be changed with the valve in lineand the ball in any position, but this isdone after having release pressurebetween upper O-ring and graphitegasket. The stem seals can bereplaced with the valve under pressure and the ball in fully closed orfully opened position and the pressurein the body cavity has been completely released.



FLOATING SSEAT WITH FFIRE SSAFE DDESIGN

Independent floating seat rings assurethe required bi-directional tightness atevery pressure in the pressure rangeof the valve. The seat rings are springloaded to greant the required tightness even at very low pressure. Ifthe seats are destroyed by abnormalheating in an emergency such as a fireetc. the seat rings will move to the ballby compression on springs and fluid,then temporary sealing surface is provided by metal to metal contactbetween the ball and seat rings(metalseal surface are mechanized for theseat rings), and the amount of leakagewill be minimized. This conformes toAPI607 fire safe requirements.

SINGLE PPISTON EEFFECT WWITHPRESSURE SSELF- RRELIEFFoe the RAM Valve USA standard trunnion mounted ball valve, each seatring performs the SINGLE PISTONEFFECT. Under such circumstance thepressure acting on the seat rings forcepushing the seat to the ball. When thepressure is s applied on the externalside of the seat rings the requiredtightness is granted.

Should the pressure of the fluid insidethe valve body exceeds the line pressure, the force which acts on theseat rings by the cavity fluid does eliminate the spring elasticity and thefluid so that make the eat clearancebetween the seats and ball. Upon suchclearance, seats provide automaticpressure relief from the body cavity tothe pipeline.



EMERGENCY SSEAL RRECOVERYWhen leakage occurs at the seatand gland due to damage, leaksfrom the seal can be temporarilystopped by injection of sealantinto the secondary seal system.The sealing action of one O-ring orNPT only and one ball inside is thestandard feature of the emergencysealant, but with two O-rings andtwo balls inside available also oncustomer's requirement.

ACTUATIONRAM Company USA trunnionmounted ball valves are designedto be operated by manual operators such as wrench or gearoperator, the use of wrench is limited to bore size and pressureclass equal or smaller than:6" -CLASS 150LB6" -CLASS 300LB4" -CLASS 400LB 4" -CLASS 600 LB2" -CLASS 900LB2" -CLASS 1500LB

For valves which operated by wrench canalso be changed to gear operator on customer;s requirement.

Actuators of valves can be supplies withElectric actuator, Pneumatic actuatorsand Gas over oil actuators. Gear operatorscan be easily removed in service andreplaced by actuator.


In traditional trunnion ball valve design, the stemtakes almost all of the force caused by the linepressure, and then friction that is generated bythis also causes the high operating torque. Withour new designs, the trunnion rotates on PTFEbearings, thus minimizing the friction caused bythe side thrust which comes from the line pressure on the ball.



Dependable And Easy OperationThe stem bearing and thrust bearing aresupplied with stainless steel backedreinforced PTFE, which provide reliablestrength are little operation torque,assure dependable and easy operation.

Anti-static DevicePossible static electricity can be conducted away by the spring throughthe stem, body and pipe.

THROUGH CONDUITBesides a full bore, the valve fluid passageis aligned with the pipe inner diameter soas to decrease flow resistance and easy toclean pipe with a pig or sphere by passingthrough the pipeline.

DOUBLE BLOCK & BLEEDThe ball with fully opened and closed, fluidis accumulated in the body cavity by theupstream and downstream seats sealing,then the contaminations can be easilydrained away by the vent plug: leaks anddamage to the seat can be checked inadvance; packing or other gland seals canbe changed under pressure.
