SCOPE RALPH E. BOYER INSTITUTE ON CONDOMINIUM AND CLUSTER DEVELOPMENTS

The Institute is designed to update condominium and planned development law generally and explore in detail particular topics of current interest. The entire morning will explore judicial, legislative and administrative recent developments followed by a discussion of current issues facing community associations and lenders relative to association finances. This year's Luncheon Roundtable will present an overview of the Florida residential market by leading economists.

The afternoon session will begin with a panel discussion of the condominium assessment safe harbor debate from both lender and association perspectives. The afternoon session will continue with an arbitration update. This will be followed by a panel discussion of new trends in condo and HOA construction litigation including defects and turnover inspections. The Thursday afternoon session will conclude with a practical ethics and professional responsibility panel discussing drafting mistakes of community association practitioners.

The Friday morning session will begin with a panel discussion of current issues of condominium reversions involving terminations and new statutory requirements. This will be followed by a panel presentation of intellectual property issues facing community association practitioners. The morning session will conclude with our annual “Meeting with the Division”, consisting of an informal workshop where several significant issues confronting both developers and community association practitioners will be discussed in an open forum.

The Friday afternoon session will begin with a Lunch Meeting of the Florida Bar Condominium and Planned Development Committee, including a legislative outlook for 2016. Immediately following Friday’s luncheon, a panel discussion of modernizing community association documents will be presented. The Institute will conclude with a panel discussion of mandatory membership clubs including issues of conversion and merger of clubs and HOA’s from a practical issue perspective.
