RAJBHASHA Unit works for implementation and compliance of Rules and Regulations

such as use of bilingual forms and issuance of bilingual orders/circulars/notifications and other Rajbhasha related rules specified in Official Language Act 1963 and as directed by the Department of Official Language (Ministry of Home Affairs), Government of India.

As per the Rajbhasha rules, in the year 2010 Rajbhasha Unit organized four workshops/

lectures on different topics to promote the official language in routine official work. For the first time Hindi Maas was celebrated in the Institute from 14 September 2010 to 14 October 2010. During this, different competitions were organized to mark the occasion. Renowned poet Shri Yusuf Bhardwaj was invited as the chief guest in the function. Varshik Rajbhasha Patrika Sanchetna (Vol. 12) was also released on the occasion.

In the year 2011, apart from conducting its regular activities like organizing quarterly workshops and implementing Rajbhasha policies in the Institute, the Rajbhasha Unit organized Hindi Maas (14 September 2011 to 14 October 2011) during which different competitions were organized to promote Hindi in the Institute. Renowned poet Baba Kanpuri was invited as chief guest for the concluding function. His poetry was highly appreciated by all. On this occasion Rajbhasha Patrika Sanchetna (Vol. 13) was also released by the chief guest.

The year 2011-2012 was celebrated as the Diamond Jubilee Year by NISCAIR. The significant achievement of the Rajbhasha Unit in this year was organizing of an International

Conference in Hindi on Vaigyanik Chetna aur Drishtikon Jagane Mein Sanchar Madhyamon ki Bhumika. The conference was organised at the NASC Complex, Pusa, New Delhi, during 29-30 May 2012. The international conference was organised jointly by NISCAIR, along with Vigyan Prasar, NCSTC and NCSM. It provided a platform to deliberate on new strategies in science communication from the perspective of the citizens – aam admi – rather than the traditional perspective of science communication from the perspective of scientists. Delegates from different parts of the country and from abroad as well participated in this Conference. On this occasion pre-proceedings of the conference Sammelan Chhavi was also released by the chief guest.
