Crop Productivity …. A comparison
• Soil –Large area under light textured soil-Low water retention, poor soil health
• Water-Depleting ground water table, deteriorating quality
• Agro-climate- Extreme temperatures, high evapo-transpiration, uncertain, erratic & scanty rainfall
• Resources-Small & fragmented holdings, low investment capacity
Why low in Rajasthan ?
1. Seed Spices- Cumin, Coriander, Fenugreek & fennel
2. Medicinal crops-Isabgoal, Ashwagandha, Satawari, Aloe vera, Sonamukhi
3. Arid horticultural crops- Anola, Anar, Ber, Lasoda
4. Coarse cereals- Bajra & other small millets
5. Pulses- Moong, Moth
6. Oilseeds- Mustard
7. Commercial crop- Guar
New Horizons- Olives, Date-palm,Jojoba, Dragon Fruit etc.

under irrigation.
Issues
• Climate
• Water Management
• Soil Health Management
• Timely availability of quality inputs
• Introduction of modern technology
• R&D in Agriculture- Research Gap Analysis
• Inter & Intra state crop wise production gap analysis
