Hope on tracks

There was a railway track on my way to college. While returning back, I mostly used to sit there for some time and wait for a train to arrive.

I love watching trains for some unknown reasons.

Maybe it’s the way they fill up the empty tracks and the whistle that follows.

I think about so many people in that train are going to places they are new to, discovering themselves through experiences, working their way out to something better.

There is a sound of hopefulness in the whistle of the train.

I see so many people in the train. Some standing at the gate, some sitting in with their family enjoying the journey, some peeking out of the window to get glimpse of life in a different land and some capturing moments in lenses.

There are so many different stories filled with the thought of just one destination.

Same destination, different hopes.

Same roads, different journeys.

Same train, different tracks.

I watch trains and hope they arrive at their destinations soon.

If our life is moving forward like a train, the tracks are a metaphor for our hopes.

Only our hopes are carrying our life forward.

In all this hustle of getting to your destination, find a stop to look at other people with hopes.

Hope of not being hopeless. Hopes of getting there even with a slow pace. Hope of getting there even after hours of delay.

Station par khada har aadmi tere intezaar main rehta hai.

Bambayi ki baarish ho ya koi band, Tere aane se hi ek aasha jaise jag jaati hai ki tu aayegi aur hume saath le jaayegi.

Tere aur mere itne safar ki kahaniyan juddi hai ki ab mere manzil ka ek khaas hissa ban chuki hai tu.

उधना – जलगाव पश्चिम रेलव ेके ममु्बई ववभाग के तहत आता है। एक वर्ष बीत गया इस लाइन का दोहरीकरण हो कर। यात्रिओंकी ढेर अपेक्षाए थी कई गाड़ियााँकी, नई गाड़ियााँ ममलेगी, साप्ताहहक गाड़ियााँ रोजाना होगी लेफकन देखिए कैसे अिगें आ जात ेहै।

कुछ तो गलत हो रहा है।

िौंक गए न, हााँ हम तो भौिक रह गए जब एक इंजीननयररगं के बच्िे न ेहमसे कुछ पूछा। आज जब हम यािा कर रहे थ ेतो एक इंजीननयररगं कॉलेज का छाि जो रोजाना अपनी पढ़ाई के मलए, कॉलेज जाने हेतु गािीमे यािा करता है, साथ मे बैठा था। हम हमारे सह यािी से गािी की भीि, वेडरोंकी बेदारकारी ऐसीही कुछ बातें कर रहे थे। बच्िा सनु रहा था, यकायक बोल पिा।

अकंल, हम तो छोटे, आपकी तुलना में नासमझ है और यह बात बहोत बिी है। आप हमें बताए, रेलव ेकी 150 ml िाय की रेट मेन्य ूमें ₹5/- माि है। जब दधू 50 रुपए लीटर, पानी 15 रुपए लीटर, शक्कर 50 रुपए फकलो, िाय पत्ती 300 रुपए फकलो यह सब सामग्री ही इतनी कीमत की है तो सही क्वामलटी की िाय क्या 5 रुपए में ममल सकती है? 150 ml िाय में आप क्या सोित ेहो की 75ml दधू ममलेगा? श्जसकी कीमत करीबन 4 रुपए हो गयी, 10 ग्राम पत्ती 3 रुपए की। जब बेमसक कॉस्ट इतनी ज्यादा है तो अपेक्षाही कैसे अच्छे िीज की करेंगे, की 5 रुपए में आप को अच्छी िाय ममल जाएगी और तो और िाली कप की कीमत ही 1 रुपए है।

यही बात िान ेकी लीश्जए आज कौन आपको 50 रुपए में नॉनवजे और 40 रुपए में वेज िाना देगा, जबकी कैसेरोल की कीमत ही 15 रुपए है?

यही तो भ्रष्टािार की गगंोिी है। उदाहरण लीश्जए, सरकारी ववभाग रोड के टेंडर ननकालती है, रोि की बेमसक कॉस्ट 10 करोि है, जबकी टेंडर भरे जात े है त्रबलो कॉस्ट में और काम जब दीया जाता है तो पता िलता है की 8 करोि वाले को रोड का ठेका ममला। जब बेमसक कॉस्ट के 20% नीि े फकसीन ेकाम मलया है तो वह काम फकस दरे्ज़ का रहेगा यह काम शरुू होन ेके पहले ही पता िल जाता है। त्रबलो कॉस्ट के त्रबड सम्बंधधत ववभाग रद्द क्यों नही करती? कोई त्रबना कमाई करें अपन ेजेब से ििाष भला क्यों करने लगा?

तकलीफ़ यह है, सब आाँि ेमूदें पि े है। काम देन ेवाले इंजीननयर, काम करनवेाले इंजीननयर, काम परिने वाले इंजीननयर और काम की सुपदुषगी लेन े वाले भी इंजीननयर। फिर काम िराब क्यों होता है? हम बतात े है, जब काम िलता है, तो

देश के आम नागररक में कोई इंजीननयर, या एक्सपटष नही श्जसे यह समझता हो फक कुछ तो गलत हो रहा है? लेफकन कोई बोलता ही नही और न हो कोई मशकायत करता है। बस िलत ेरहता है।

आप बताए, सामान्य शे्रणीके 90 लोगोंकी क्षमता के ड़डब्बे में 150 लोग, श्स्लपर में 72 लोगोंकी क्षमता में 150 लोग फकस तरह यािा कर सकत े है? लेफकन रोजाना करत ेही है न? फकसी को कुछ िकष ही नही पिता।

जब वेहटगं मलस्ट हटकट कन्िमष नही होता तो रद्द हो जाता है फिर भी लोग यािा कैसे कर पात ेहै यह मेरे मलए पहेली है। यहााँ श्स्लपर ड़डब्बे में सामान्य शे्रणी के यािी घसेु पि ेहै, TTE ने सबकी पेनाल्टी की रसीद बना दी, लेफकन उतारा फकसी को भी नही। यह यािी भो इसी ड़डब्बे में घसुकर यािा कर ही रहे है न? यह जो सामान ववके्रता है, पान गुटिा मसगरेट, समोसा किोरी, स्टेशनरी बेि रहे है। यकीन माननए आप, इनके पास अथॉररटी तो छोड़िए हटकट भी नही होगा। यह भीि मांगने वाले क्या रेलव ेकी ओरसे अधधकृत कागजात लेकर गािी में भीि मांगने ननकले है। छोड़िए अकंल सभी िाली बातें करत े है, सब के सब आाँि ेमूदें सोन ेका नाटक करत ेहै। हमन ेकुछ नही देिा, हमे कुछ हदिाई नही हदया।

भाई साहब, बस बेहोश नही हुए हम। फकतना कुछ बोल गया वह बच्िा। क्या कर रहे है हम? कौनसी दनुनया हम अपन ेआनेवाली पीढ़ी को देन ेजा रहे है?

Forty-two locomotives of this type were ordered from European Group.

Five of these were completely assembled in Europe and the remaining

were built at CLW. A repeat order was placed on for 20 locomotives in

1963. Further these locomotives were manufactured at CLW. The typical

feature of this locomotive is the Monomotor bogies. This construction

results in substantial saving in weight in traction equipment and gives

better adhesion. The traction motors are force ventilated and are fully

suspended type. These motors are permanently grouped in parallel and are

controlled by tap changer and field weakening. This can be used for a

multiple unit operation to a maximum of four locomotives. Compressed air

brake for the loco and vacuum brake for the train is provided, in addition,

these locomotives have been provided with regenerative braking. Few

locomotives have been converted to dual brake system. They were in

service until 2000 when all were scrapped. The first indigenously produced

WAG-1 Bidhan is preserved at the National Rail Museum, New Delhi.
