Fitting radios 05.98 ► in vehicles ► 04.98

To fit a “BETA” radio 05.98 ► in a vehicle ► 04.98, perform the following procedures:

– Remove the contact from chamber 5 of the multi-pin connector III, -T8-, 8-pin, black, and insulate the removed wire.

– If a control wire for additional equipment i.e. power aerial or additional amplifier, is to be connected to this contact, then reconnect this wire to contact 17 on blue multi-pin connector I, part 3.

– Make a wiring connection from chamber 7 to chamber 5 on black 8-pin multi-pin connector III, -T8-.

This supplies chamber 5 with terminal 30. If this wiring connection is missing the radio unit will not work.

If a CD changer is to be activated, then the connector housing of 10-pin connector -T10- of the vehicle must be retrofitted with the multi-pin connector housing of the multi-pin connector I of radio generation 05.98 ►. When doing this, follow the current flow diagrams or use an adapter connector, if appropriate.

The “digital sound system” will not work with a “BETA” radio 05.98 ► when used in vehicle designed for radio generation ► 04.98.

Please note that no self-diagnosis is possible with radios of generation 05.98 ► in vehicles ► 04.98 , and the convenience electronic lock does not work either.
