TRANSCRIPT
Seven years after its creation, the Societe Generale Corporate Foundation the Solidarity continued its commitment to professional integration in 2013. Given the amount of requests we receive, it is a wise choice. With a budget of €2.5 million, the Foundation has been able to finance more than 90 projects this year.
One of the Foundation's priorities has always been the fight against illiteracy. In 2013 we are proud to note that this issue has been declared of pressing national importance, and we have been able to support 20 illiteracy related projects this year.
Long lasting partnerships have been strengthened with six mentoring programmes, allowing members of different social groups (from young girls from disadvantaged areas to future graduates from universities) to reach a common goal; entry into working life.
More than 300 Societe Generale employees have given their time to these associations, and they share their experience, and give advice to their mentees. This commitment was recognised during the Citizen Commitment Week 2013.
The many partnerships nurtured by the Foundation have allowed us to develop sponsorship programmes, in particular Pro Bono days, when volunteer employees offer their professional expertise to partner charities. In 2013, two companies, one Romanian and one Moroccan, were able to benefit from this day with help from employees in our subsidiaries in these two countries.
In 2014, we will continue to support programmes that show our employee's commitment to the professional integration projects backed by the Foundation. In the context of Societe Generale's 150 year history, a big sporting and solidarity challenge has been set up to contribute to employee involvement (from around thirty of the group's global subsidiaries) in the many associations we support.

Since its creation in 2006, the Societe Generale Corporate Foundation for Solidarity has worked to improve professional integration, in particular through projects aimed at helping young people find work, as well as programmes to fight illiteracy.
With a budget of €2.5 million, the Foundation's board guides and decides where to help, and agrees how much money should be allocated to each project. The board is made up of 12 people, of whom six represent the company, two are company employees, and four others are competent individuals.
The board is assisted in its functions by a selection committee. The selection committee gives and advisory opinion on requests for funding above €10,000 and votes on all requests below €10,000.
The selection committee is made up of 13 members, who represent all the different positions within the Group. Three seats are given to volunteer employees.
The Foundation has three month long application periods every year. Charities can deliver their funding request with all additional information to [email protected] during the application period.

PROFESSIONAL INTEGRATION
11
CROIX-ROUGE INSERTION - FRANCE
Grant: €100,000 for a professional integration mentoring programme.
Set up in October 2011, Croix-Rouge Insertion is an initiative by the French Red Cross, which has made it a linchpin in the fight against unemployment.
The charity shares the same values and ambitions as the French Red Cross, and it transmits these across its integration network. By integrating the Croix-Rouge Insertion network as it did Béarn Solidarité in 2012 (an environmental sector integration programme) the structures benefit from the charity's services.
Croix-Rouge Insertion shares good practises with innovative programmes, and strengthens the link between the different organisations and public and private institutions.
The objective is to help long term unemployed young people, and to deal with issues such as early school leavers.

CASA DO ZEZINHO - BRESIL
With the support of the Foundation in 2012, Casa do Zezinho was able to run the Luciole project until it came to an end in December 2013.
The objective was to offer 120 young people, from disadvantaged areas in the south of Sao Paulo, professional training in several different areas such as cookery, or the digital world. The charity also runs university entry courses.
Starting in February 2013, the cookery courses really appealed to young people. 50 to 60 took the course. During the course, many well known chefs came along to share their skills with the young people. At the end of the programme, 29 students found a job, and 26 participants on the university entry courses secured a place at university.
Casa do Zezinho is partnered with the Institut Societe Generale in Brazil, so the young people can also benefit from mentoring by a Societe Generale employee.
Grant: €22,000 for a mentoring project to help young people from a disadvantaged area of Sao Paulo get into training or work.

FIGHTAGAINST ILLiTERACY
Fight against illiteracy: allowing people who have been to school but are lacking in key basic skills (numeracy, literacy, and writing) to acquire them and find work.
17
In France a number of young people aged 18 to 25 leave school without any qualifications and find themselves unemployed. EPIDE, a publicly run integration programme, wanted to deal with these specific problems faced by young people.
At its 18 mentoring centres, the charity tries to help young people by offering training, as 40% of the young people it deals with are illiterate. Teaching tools are available, as well as IT training, and the young people are helped to deal with their issues, such as illiteracy and learning about the digital world.
In order to help them get into work quickly, and stay there, each student is monitored individually.
EPIDE - FRANCE
Grant: €10,950 for the "Pour mettre des mots sur les maux" project.

CITIZEN COMMITMENT WEEK
Fondation Inocenti
Given that in disadvantaged areas of Bucharest and Bistrita, illiteracy rates are at 40% of adults, Fondation Inocenti set up a programme to tackle this problem. Participants receive training and can gain qualifications in order to find lasting employment. The Romanian subsidiary of Societe Generale (BRD) and its employees have been organising charitable projects since 2010, including collecting Christmas presents.
Sidi Bernoussi
This charity helps young people into work by setting up profit generating microeconomic projects. 30 people aged between 16 and 30, and who have few qualifications, are accepted onto this residential scheme where they receive training in how to set up micro projects. The association is supported by Societe Generale in Morocco.
Espace 19
Espace 19 helps around sixty disadvantaged people looking for work in the north-east of Paris, through its "French as a Foreign Language" and IT workshops. To further involve employees, the three prize-winners at the Citizen Commitment Awards, each received a Pro Bono day.
Seven members of Sidi Bernoussi set out their ethos and participated in discussions concerning their property assets and their value over the long term.
The Inocenti Foundation worked with four employees from BRD about how to position itself. The volunteers came up with key messages to help the association.
In France, ten employees, members of Talents & Partage, took part in the Pro Bono day for Espace 19. The goal was to come up with a strategy and establish priorities for the next three years, keeping in mind the two main goals set out by Espace 19 at the start; financial stability and the quality of the locations chosen.
PRO BONO DAYS
In 2013, nearly 100 people participated in a Pro Bono Day set up by the Foundation.
