What is R and B?

Generally, (R and B) is a specific genre popular in African and American Music that originally originated in the 1940’s. The fact that the term was used by record companies to describe recordings marketed predominantly to urban African Americans, at a time when "urbane, rocking, jazz based music with a heavy, insistent beat" was becoming more popular. Additionally R and B is originally called (Rhythm and Blues) in the 1950’s with specific instruments used like consisted of piano, one or two guitars, bass, drums, saxophone, and sometimes background vocalists. Furthermore, Lyrics focus on R and B mainly focuses on certain themes of triumphs and failures in terms of relationships, freedom, economics, aspirations, and sex.I choose this genre for my music magazine because the fact that it is my

most favourite genre of all time. My idolized artists like “Nicki Minaj, Chris Brown and etc. Promotes this music. Also, This music is simplistic but really creative that outstandingly will always be present all the time and the R and B music Domination will never disappear.

R and B in the 1980-1990’s

In the year 1980-1990’s more R and B artists became really famous making R and B look really edgy and started getting more popular. Initially developing out of the trad jazz, skiffle and fol club scenes, early artists tended to focus on major blues performers and standard forms, particularly Alexis Korner, who acted as a mentor to members of The Rolling Stones, The Yard birds, Manfred Mann, The Graham Bond Organisation and The Kinks.Additionally, music of the British Mod subculture grew out of rhythm and blues and later soul, performed by artists that were not available to the small London clubs where the scene originated.Nevertheless, Based on the fashion of R and B music they were earing sun glasses, bling jewelleries and presents themselves as very inferior, aggressive and tough.

R and B in 2010

Continuing from the 1990s and early 2000s, R&B, like many other genres, drew influences from the technical innovations of the time and began to incorporate more electronic and machine-made sounds and instruments. Also, Artists like Beyoncé and Ciara are still very popular even up to this date so this suggests R and B music is increasingly more evolving that lead to it success. So this means my magazine will have Many seller due to very many people idolizing R and B music. Finally, The use of effects such as Auto-Tune and new computerized synths have given R&B in 2010 a more futuristic feel while still attempting to incorporate many of the genre's common themes such as love and relationships
