stock department the cantaloupe crop this I season was no doubt the tamest of record in thin state Palmetto Path I farms Ocala having ru acres rom I which were shipped 3137 crates of fancy sizes the Martin farms of fin I acres in cantaloupes shipped 81ifi I crates also large fancy sizes very few ponies shipped from either place these shipments are exclusive from other Holds operated by croppers of whih there were many on this vast plantation The Vilon Produce t 0 A Iittsburg handled the l uKc ff this ciop and satisfactory results Is the pronounced verdict here The writer had the pleasure of the season In an I afternoon carriage ride with Z C Chambliss over this the finest planta ¬ tion of its kind in Florida till Pal ¬ metto Park farms Other interested growers and busi- ness ¬ people here who reid the Packer and appreciate its value include J II Livingston 1 Son real estate dealers in farm and vegetable lands orange I grove properties and everything else in the real estate line J II Living- ston ¬ C Son are no doubt one of the j largest and most reliable real estate companies in the Flowery state Martin Carn are seed and produce i dealers who supply most of the grow j ers in this vicinity with seeds for all crops and seasons i I X Wiggins grows vegetables for market reads the Packer and will hue beans for fall and winter ship ¬ ment- J D McDnffy is one of the large melon and cantaloupe growers here G T Liddon grows cants and a general crop of vegetables and has a I tine dairy from which Ocala gets much of its supplies in that line- J G Goin grows vegetables In sea- son ¬ Other Packer readers an out of town but will be reported as to crops later Sparr Sparr FlaSparr is one of the best vegetable sections in Florida and while this dry season has somewhat- cut the crop yet its growers are not discouraged and are universally pros- perous In spite of conditions The growers and Packer readers here are W Luffman of J VT Colbert- Co who are large growers of cant ¬ value Mr Young grows cantaloupes as a prin- cipal ¬ crop with lettuce and other vegetables in season W A Xottage grows cants toma- toes ¬ cukes beans and lettuce and will have lettuce for the fall and largest cantaloupe growing and shipping stations in Florida anti Is noted for the tine quality produced Xot only has Anthony that reputation I here but throughout the market world and while this J P Jones makes a specialty of cantaloupes and tomatoes but grows other stuff when the market looks favorable- E L Howell connected with Ben- der ¬ Striebig Co Cincinnati 0 is no doubt the largest grower here havj ing this season shipped cantaloupes- from 275 acres of that product and watermelons from 160 acres both crops being a success considering the weather and the market Mr Howell is an monthly meeting of the town council was held last Tuesday night and after a debate of half an hour I they decided to leave most of the work until the arrival of Mr O M Gale from the North as he is one of the council and they wish to have a full council Among the finished business was the hard road question whether to use the same clay pit or use lime It was left to the decision- of three of the
