There was a time when books were handwritten. To illustrate the books importance, the authors would illuminate, or decorate, the letters. Since this took a lot of time it was often only done for religious books or for people with a lot of money. Monks used to write the Bible, adding gold embellishments

Pick a style of writing that you like. Pick the first letter from either your first or last name and draw it on the white paper Make sure it is centered Make sure it takes up the whole page Add patterns and miniatures to your letter that represent you and your personality Trace it all with black marker Color it with colored pencils using a color scheme that is representative of you Mat on colored construction paper that fits your scheme Write your name and grade on the back!
