5. How did you attract/address your audience?

Page 2: Questions 5 6

I used a questionnaire in my planning and I used other urban magazines and offered them the cover to individuals and asked which cover was most appealing to them. As I found that ‘C’ was most popular from the sort of people I asked who are targets for my magazine I chose to use that image type.

Page 3: Questions 5 6

I used conventional techniques to attract my reader as highlighted by the bright circles.

• Fixed Colour pattern of red, white and black. Blends in with the black and white nature of the image.

• Cover lines which offered prizes and information which is extremely relevant to the reader.

• Footer on the magazine ensuring them that they know what they can expect to find music wise with the artists listed.

• Main cover title of the artist’s name and a direct quote from him which has a stroke on it to impose itself on the cover.

Again with the contents page I used conventional techniques used in other magazines to attract my reader. My questionnaire results shown that my

target audience expected these features from this page.

• Fixed colour scheme

• Fixed font, which fits the genre of the magazine

• At least 2 images

• A flasher something that would stand out on the page.

• Information clearly stated about what can be found further in the magazine.

• Stick to conventional magazine lay outs.

Direct quotes from the interview grab the attention of the reader and I placed a stroke n the text again to make it stand out more.

Used the same font that has been used throughout the

magazine as it fits the genre.

Model of an age which is part of the

target audience, showing that his life is

achievable.

Images portraying positive and negative vibes. Showing two sides too the urban

genre of music.

Transparent bar with the logo and

name of the magazine just to fit

the magazine theme.

Conventional layout for interview writing in a

magazine of columns.

Continued fixed colour scheme

which matches the cover and contents

page.

6. What have you learnt about the technologies

from the process of constructing this

product?

Page 7: Questions 5 6

During the construction of making my magazine I have used Adobe Photoshop CS3 to construct my cover and contents page. Photoshop proved to be extremely useful after understanding fully how to use the layers and the effects to their full potential.

• I used Adobe InDesign CS3 to construct my double page spread. I first found this hard to use but once I got to grips with the tools it became easier.

• I also used Microsoft Word to write out my question and answers for the double page spread then just copied and pasted the text into InDesign.

•Once the work was completed it had to be uploaded to www.blogger.com a long with the original images we used in the process of the magazine. For the blog I had to upload and title all the work and arrange it in order of completion.

•To take the photo’s for my magazine I used a college Kodak camera. The camera’s were useful in me being able to take shots of people from all angles to make my work look as professional as possible as I was able to get a close up, medium shot and a long shot.

•I also used slideshare to put my prelimary task PowerPoint in so that they are easily readable on my blog.

I used Photoshop to create both my front cover and my

contents page.

To apply drop shadow which I did on both my title ‘M.O.B.’

and the box it is in:

To edit my photo’s which I did for all 5 I

added curves to them all and this is how I did

it.

Page 9: Questions 5 6

I used InDesign to create my double page spread for my magazine.

To apply a Drop capital at the beginning of a paragraph which is conventional for magazine article

writing.

To place a photo into InDesign I had to use the picture tool and create a

image box that I could place my image in. To ensure my

image were of maximum quality when adjusting the size I held the shift key so

they resized in an unaltered manor.
