How Samsung Mobile started out Samsung started out as a small shop in Daegu, South Korea, and gradually built up into a massive

conglomerate covering everything from ship building to insurance. The Samsung Electronics

business we know best was set up in 1969, initially making TVs, but launching atelecommunication division in 1977. The company’s first mobile, the SH-100, was released in

1988.

What it does now Today Samsung is the world’s second biggest handset seller after Nokia after overtaking Motorola

last year, and still growing rapidly in developing countries. It’s not hard to see why - Samsung’s U
