How Does Your Media

Product Represent

Different Social GroupQuestion Two

Page 2: Question Two - Social Groups

Different social groups

• Age ranges (Child, adolescent, adult, elderly)

• Gender (Male/Female)

• Race/Nationality (English, Spanish)

• Religion (Christian, Jewish, ect.)

• Villains/Protagonist (Which we used in our own production)

Page 3: Question Two - Social Groups

Sally Blunt

Page 4: Question Two - Social Groups

We used a female role for our main character due to our questionnaire results. This challenges the Thriller codes and conventions and shows originality in our

production, due to main roles and hero's in thrillers being mostly males for example, James Bond, Bourne Identity and Dwight from Sin City. Our inspiration

came from Kill Bill who is a strong independent role.

We made our character have no dialogue and this creates mystery and let the audience concentrate on her actions and facial expression's

rather than what she might say. At first the audience may think that Sally is the victim but due to her actions it shows that she is skilled and has a past of being an agent. Examples of this include her knowledge of

hiding and looking for danger, jumping over obstacle's. Also what's inside the bag which is a FBI agent badge, Passport and important

documentsWhich shows her profession and give clue to your

she is and what she does.

Page 5: Question Two - Social Groups

Hair Tied backThis shows that our character is practical and is used to moving, instead of her hair in her way, also even thought she is an ex FBI agent she would have been used to have it out of her face due to uniform of an FBI agent.

Black Leather JacketA lot of inspiration for a leatherjacket came from Kill Bill. Not only dose it look ordinaryBut common convention of a thrillerBlack TrousersDue to her being an ex-FBI agent she would have an ordinary, simple look which is common in thrillers as they don’t wish to cause attention to them selves rather than a suit or more professional clothes as an FBI agent would wear.

White trainersGrey Bag

The bag being a neutral colour of grey raises questions for the audience due to her to be so attached to it. Inspiration fromThe Bourne Identity

Black TopBlack clothing is neutral, and also she doesn't bring much attention to herself.

Practical for running and black and white are a common thriller code and convention because it symbolises the conflict between good and evil. Also we wanted our character to look ordinary, this could have been done to hide her previous job as an FBI agent and to disguise herself.

Villain

Page 7: Question Two - Social Groups

We decided to used a group of villains to make our film more intense and create and feeling of no escape, popular in common code and

conventions of thrillers such as Dark Night Rises and Sin city.

We also used masks to create secret identities and keep an air of mystery about the villains. They all wore dark clothing so they could

blend into the shadows and create the contrast of good and evil. They also were very confident as they as they watched Sally, also with slow movements at times as if they knew they were going to get what

they wanted also with had sly moments and this makes them seen unnerving as it makes they seen that they will reach there target no

matter what.

White MaskUsed to hide the identity of the villain and making him seem in human and sinister. We got our inspiration from dark knight and Set up asthey are both thrillers and used the masked to hide theiridentity.

Black Hood

JacketAnother method of hiding identity and a suspicion look for our villain also indicating that there trained and know not to be seen.

Black

Trousers

GunCommon code and convention of a thriller. Builds up suspense and anticipation and danger.Inspired from many thrillers e.g. Face off, Bourne Identity, James Bond, Sin City.

Group of Villains

Causes a more intense sense of danger and may cause the audience to think that they may just be accomplices for someone similar to Dark Knight as there where a group of villains working for the main protagonist

Shows that he is all in black, fitting into the theme of the characters and this is a common code and convention of thrillers. Also showing the contrast of good and evil.
