I have used many technologies construct Origin magazine such as…

PHOTOSHOP

• I mainly used this software for the front cover of the

magazine and to edit photos.

• I’ve learnt how to edit photos better by using the patch

tool and I’ve learnt how to get a stroke on text and make it

thicker as well as learning how to add effect to the photos

by going to image> adjustments>levels or

brightness/contrast to make the photos more interesting.

INDESIGN

• I used InDesign for the contents page and double page

spread.

• I’ve learnt how to use the layers properly on the software

as this helped on the construction of the CP and DPS

especially when I want text to go on top of images. The

layers allowed the CP and DPS to be organised and easy

to construct.

ILLUSTRATOR

• I used Illustrator for the logo of Origin I had an induction

from a teacher on how to use the software. It’s quite

similar to InDesign so it was quite straight forward. I made

sure that the logo for Origin was bold and simple and had

the colour scheme of Origin in it. I then exported it as a

jpeg. And I was able to place it into InDesign.

BLOGGER

• I used blogger to post the process and progress on

making the magazine, I’ve learnt how to upload images,

videos, slide share and prezi onto my blogger by using

the html and getting the embed code to place into the

html. Blogger has become easier to use as I’ve uploaded

many things about the magazine.

PREZI

• I used prezi to also help plan Origin magazine and to

help make the planning of Origin magazine more visual.

SLIDESHARE & TIMETOAST

• I used slideshares to help upload the powerpoints I made

on the plan for Origin magazine, I used timetoast to show

a timeline of the schedule of the coursework this helped

me to be on track with meeting deadlines of tasks and

keeping organised on what I had to do during making the

music magazine.

PHOTOGRAPHY

To improve the photography of the magazine I used the Nikon

D7000 camera in the studio to take professional photos. I had an

induction on how to use the studio and how to use the camera, it

was very useful. I had 3 photo shoots and each time I did it I

improved on taking better pictures for the magazine by the way I

positioned myself while taking the picture and making sure I took

a variety of pictures to select the best one. The soft boxes were

a big help as they helped to get the lighting right for the pictures

by increasing the number of the soft boxes to get a brighter

image especially when I used a back drop in the studio. For

location photography I used the Canon PowerShot SD950 IS it

took clear pictures but I had to edit the photos in PhotoShop to

make the photos brighter as the location of the photos were

slightly dark.
