'In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?' (Part Two) 1. Our first shot is a long shot of tree branches moving in the wind. This shot is accompanied with some soft music in the background. This particular shot is used to symbolise the area in which the opening is taking place. Also the mellow slightly dark lighting is used to symbolise that something tragic is going to happen. 2. The second shot is a long shot focusing on the kidnapper facing away from the camera. The reason why we showed the kidnapper via a long shot facing against the camera is because we wanted to create suspense and also a tension that only the kidnapper could create. Also it makes the kidnapper seem more mysterious and scary. It also typifies the way that we portray kidnappers. This scene will be accompanied with very quiet mellow music to build tension. 1 2 3 4 5 7 8 6 9

'In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?' (Part Two)

3. The third shot is a bird’s eye view shot of the girl in area filled with leaves just looking around in the area. The reason why we showed the girl like this is because we wanted to emphasis the idea that she is vulnerable to anything happening. We also made the lighting bright so that it is clear to the audience that she is a good person. The particular bit will correlate with the music becoming louder because we are first introduced to the girl. This is also the first time clearly you can see the location where the thriller opening is set.

4. The fourth shot a long shot shows the girl playing hopscotch. The reason why we wanted to show this is because we wanted to make clear to the audience that she is a playful happy child. We also wanted to portray a stereotypical female child. And the representation of a child.

5. Often in our thriller opening we used long shots, close ups or high angle shots focusing on the individual person or item. In this particular shot we used close up on the hair band of the girl. This hair band is important in our thriller opening because it basically symbolises the girl.

6. The sixth shot is mid shot of the girl finding a balloon. This shot again is used to go along with the stereotypical representation of what children play with balloons. This shot shows too characteristics of the girl in the thriller opening. One that she curious, and two that she is a complete child. This shown by the girl taking the balloon

7. In the majority of the lighting seen is created via nature. This is constant throughout the whole of our opening because we wanted the whole thriller opening in general to have the reality and also as naturalistic as possible. This is seen none more evidently in the shot of the girl letting go of the balloon and seeing it float in the air.

8. This particular shot was inspired from the James Bond openings. We used idea of the main character running toward the camera. The affect I believe it gives is that it makes the action taking place in the opening more realistic.

9. Before I started filming with my group, I watched many thriller openings that have been filmed in the outdoors. Thriller openings such as Mayday. The one thing that I realised about all of these thriller openings is that they have an iconic moment that creates the most tension in the whole thriller opening. We tried to create the exact tension in this last shot with the hair band flittering in the wind.
