CONDITIONS OF TRAVEL• Rafting is not available to children under 13 years of age

• Rafters aged under 16 years must have a guardian travel with them and have a child waiver signed by a guardian

• Rafters aged under 18 years require a child waiver form to be signed by a guardian

• Minimum weight is 40kg (88lbs)

• Clients should be water competent

• For safety reasons Queenstown Rafting reserve the right to reject any clients if they are deemed unsuited to raft.

• All trips require a minimum of 8 people to confirm, with the exception of Landsborough Wilderness Experience

which is a minimum of 4

The Kawarau River is ideal for first time rafters or suited to those looking for a more relaxed rafting experience, or groups of mixed ability / ages. There’s plenty of white water action, but also time to sit back, relax and enjoy the spectacular scenery. Keep an eye on the other rafts though, as there’s a good chance of a water fight.

It’s the Kawarau that starred as the river Anduin in Lord of the Rings. The grandeur of the canyons imparts a feeling of paddling through the heart of Middle Earth. Enjoy the unforgettable 400m long Dog Leg rapid - New Zealand’s longest commercially rafted rapid before returning to Queenstown for a sauna and shower at Cavells Rafting Lodge.

In 1987 the company was known as Kiwi Discovery Rafting but after an amalgamation of four rafting operations, Queenstown Rafting Ltd, as it is known today was incorporated in 1996.

Queenstown Rafting is a joint business venture between the original locally owned Kiwi Discovery and Real Journeys and is New Zealand’s largest white water rafting company. The company is regarded as New Zealand’s leader in safety operational procedures for rafting. Providing an adventure experience from calm to wild waters, half day to multiday rafting, adventure combos and guided walks, there is something for everyone.

Queenstown Rafting was the first rafting company to win a New Zealand Tourism Award, and was Qualmark accredited in 2003. Queenstown Rafting gained Enviro Silver Qualmark in 2011 and are a gold sponsor in a biofuel initiative, using Biodiesel in all vehicles. Recognised internationally for the high level of standards maintained and audited and administered under Maritime New Zealand, the company complies with all New Zealand legislative requirements as an adventure tourism operator.
