READINGS FOR JULY 26

Please pray for those who have died, members of our family, friends, and

in particular:

Frank S Carra, Sr Bridget Mongan

Thomas B Mullins

First Reading — Solomon prays for an understanding heart (1 Kings 3:5, 7-12). Psalm — Lord, I love your commands (Psalm 119). Second Reading — All things work for good for those who love God (Romans 8:28-30). Gospel — The one who knows of the kingdom of heaven brings new and old from the storeroom (Matthew 13:44-52 [44-46]). The English translation of the Psalm Responses from Lectionary for Mass © 1969, 1981, 1997, Interna-tional Commission on English in the Liturgy Corporation. All rights reserved.

A SHARE IN GOD’S KINGDOM Today concludes a three-week series of Gospel texts in which we have listened to a total of seven parables about the Kingdom. The believer is asked to consider the request that God made of Solomon in today’s first reading: “Ask something of me and I will give it to you” (1 Kings 3:5). Today’s parables about the treasure buried in the field and the pearl of great price should prompt us to answer, “A share in your kingdom, O God!” Today we discover that the kingdom of God is beyond value, a priceless treasure. Un-fortunately, our culture bombards us with things that it be-lieves are priceless treasures—the bigger and better SUVs, anti-aging and anti-balding creams and salves, miracle diets, and so much more. Having a share in God’s kingdom and helping to bring about that kingdom are the greatest treas-ures that we can ever hope to gain. Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co.

Green Phase Updates: The Archdiocese of Philadelphia has issued guidelines that Queen of the Universe emailed to all parishioners. Please read these guidelines before coming to Mass. Mass Schedule: Sunday: We will be celebrating public Masses at 7:30 a.m., 9:30 a.m., and 11:30 a.m.

The 9:30 a.m. Mass will continue to be live-streamed.

Daily Mass will be celebrated Tuesday through Friday morning at 8:30 a.m.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED! As we resume the public celebration of Mass, we will need volunteers to help us with cleaning the church - especially following the 11:30 Mass.

If you are able to volunteer, please email Sue Raffin at [email protected] or call the Rectory at 215-945-8750. Cleaning products, equipment and protective gear will be provided.

The Parish Center will remain CLOSED at this time.

“The kingdom of heaven may be likened to a man who sowed good seed in his field…He who sows good seed is the Son of Man, the field is the world, the good seed the

children of the kingdom.” - MATTHEW 13:24, 37-38 As children of God, we are all “good seeds”. We are blessed by God with the potential to accomplish much good in the world. We fulfill God’s plan when we spend time in prayer every day, use our skills to help others and share our financial gifts to help build God’s kingdom on earth. Through our example of gratitude and generosity we sow “good seeds” on earth and ultimately help each other get to Heaven!

PARISH NEWS Mary’s Cupboard, a food pantry, is pleased to announce that we are back to our old schedule in helping families that are in need of food. We are open 3 days per week, our office hours are: Monday from 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., Wednesday and

Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Appointments and face masks are mandatory. To schedule an appointment, please call us only during office hours at: 215-949-1991. Our ad-dress is: 100 Levittown Parkway, Levittown, PA. and we’re in the basement of the Catholic Social Services Bldg. lo-cated at the campus of St Michael the Archangel Church, across from Wal-Mart.

CROSS-TRAIN YOUR FAITH I am going to deviate a little this week and start off with some words from Father Dave Pivonka of the Goose is Loose from this week.

“I trust this finds you well as we continue to navigate our way through uncharted territory. I pray every day that the Lord

will bring an end to this pandemic. I also pray for all those who have experienced tremendous suffering over the last few months.

While there have been many difficult things that have come about due to the pandemic, there also has been graces avail-able. One of the primary aspects I have been reflecting on is that, once again, God comes to us. Often we live in a world where we go to God. We go to Mass, we go to prayer group, we go to bible study, we go to Wild Goose group, we go to feed the poor, we go to men’s group, we go... I think you get the point. But for the last several months we have not been able to go. We had to stop “going” and “doing” and just let God come to us. . . . We do so many things try-ing to get to God but we need to keep in mind that God wants to come to us.”

The more I listen to the experts and the more I read about what is happening in the world, the more I am concerned that we will probably face some real challenges in trying to get back to our weekly Cross Train Your Faith sessions for a while.

Attached is a little bit of homework that may help you in this dark time. Holy Virgin of Guadalupe, Queen of the Angels and Mother of the Americas.

We fly to you today as your beloved children.

We ask you to intercede for us with your Son, as you did at the wedding in Cana.

Pray for us, loving Mother, and gain for our nation and world, and for all our families and loved ones, the protec-tion of your holy angels, that we may be spared the worst of this illness.

For those already afflicted, we ask you to obtain the grace of healing and deliverance. Hear the cries of those who are vulnerable and fearful, wipe away their tears and help them to trust.

In this time of trial and testing, teach all of us in the Church to love one another and to be patient and kind. Help us to bring the peace of Jesus to our land and to our hearts.

We come to you with confidence, knowing that you truly are our compassionate mother, health of the sick and cause of our joy.

Shelter us under the mantle of your protection, keep us in the embrace of your arms, help us always to know the love of your Son, Jesus. Amen

Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament

The Blessed Sacrament is exposed in Church Chapel every Thursday from

9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Please take a few moments and spend them with the Lord.
