Fellow NARI Members,

The summer is in full swing and it couldn’t be busier! The Omaha area is hustling and bustling with remodeling go-ing on all over the city. Keep up the great work out there and keep spreading the good word about NARI through high quality projects and outstanding service to our com-munity!

It is projected that remodeling activity will experience slower growth throughout the rest of the year, but growth nonetheless. “Homeowners are continuing to spend more on improvements as house prices strengthen in most parts of the country,” says Chris Herbert, Manag-ing Director of the Joint Center for Housing Studies. “Yet, recent slowdowns in home sales activity and remodeling permitting suggests improvement spending gains will lose some steam over the course of the year.” Abbe Will, Research Analyst in the Remodeling Futures Program at the Joint Center says, “While the rate of growth is starting to trend down, national remodeling expenditures by homeowners are projected to reach almost $320 billion by early next year.” There’s plenty of opportunity, that’s for sure.

I wanted to take a moment to highlight our NARI Certifications. At the begin-ning of the year, one of my main goals was to focus on NARI’s educational opportunities. As you may know, I signed up for the Certified Remodeler exam and I’m happy to say that I passed! After taking the test, I have an even deeper appreciation for NARI and understand even more the signifi-cance of our certified members. I’m a big fan of our certifications! Although I already knew this is a big industry and there is so much to learn, that test reiterated how much knowledge really is required for what we do. I am so grateful that we have NARI to help capture all of this knowledge and then help people train and get better at running their businesses. So congratula-tions to all of you who are certified out there! And if you’re not certified yet, I would encourage you to look into the NARI certification programs. They are something really special that NARI has to offer and is one of the biggest contributors to supporting our mission of professionalism and the develop-ment of highly educated remodelers doing the great work that homeowners are relying on.

In closing, I’m looking forward to our events throughout the rest of the year! To highlight a few in particular, we have our Fall Tailgate and Chili cook-off on September 21st which will be a lot of fun. Follow that, we have our Annual Golf Outing on Friday, September 29th at Pacific Springs Golf Club! I hope to see you there as it’s always a great time! In addition, I’m very excited to announce that we will be hosting Tom Miller, our NARI National President, at our general meeting on October 19th! Make sure to mark your calendar as that will be a great opportunity to learn about all of the latest happenings with NARI and how you can take advantage of the many opportunities and benefits of your membership. As always, I hope to see you at our meetings!

Kind Regards,

Megan Bratetic, CR
