Department News & UpdatesThe Graduate Kinesiology department is celebrating 2015 bykicking off a new campaign designed to make it easier foryou to connect prospective students to the program, andmaking a notable new addition to the faculty. Additionally weare proud to announce new alumni access to some veryexciting career and academic databases through the SaintMary's College Library. Refer a Friend CampaignBeginning February 1, 2015 the department is kicking off its first ever Refer a Friendcampaign as part of an overall enrollment drive.Between February 1, 2015 and April 30, 2015 click hereor use the Refer a Friend button on our website to referan interested friend, co-worker or family member to theM.A. in Kinesiology program. Each referred individualwill receive promotional materials about the programand be invited to come to campus to meet with anadmissions counselor and/or join us for a classroomvisit and campus tour. We will also waive their $50application fee. For more information please [email protected]. Vault Career Intelligence and Project Muse AccessFor the first time, the Saint Mary's College Library is providing alumni access to a selectionof their academic databases, beginning with Vault Career Intelligence and Project MUSE.Vault Career Intelligence opens a window on the real life experience of working in specificindustries, companies, and professions via ongoing, targeted surveys of workingprofessionals and students within those industries, companies, and professions. ProjectMUSE provides humanities and social science content from more than 120 of the world'sfinest university presses and scholarly societies. New Faculty HireWe are excited to announce the recent hire of Leilani Wagner as the lecturer for our Media

and Public Relations class. Leilani received her Master's in SportManagement from the University of San Francisco in 2011. Herbackground covers coaching, teaching, curriculum development,sponsorship, and marketing. She has experience working withprofessional teams, camps, collegiate athletics, and conferences. She iscurrently the Senior Manager of Partnership Marketing for the San JoseEarthquakes where she is involved in opening the new Avaya Stadium.With a passion for helping others, Leilani wants to work with students to

help them break into the industry or further their career and be successful.

Alumni AccoladesNew alum and SMC martial art activity course instructor Derek Baure won several medalsat the Mokomoko Invitational Martial Arts Tournament in Campbell,California this past fall. Between himself and his students theycollected over 15 medals at the tournament. Derek ranked first in theblack belt division for Sumo, second in Sport Jujitsu, and third inGrappling. This later led him to be nominated to be a special guestinstructor for "Who's that in martial arts?" an event for the great up andcoming martial artists hosted by the organization Jujitsu America.Which, in turn, led him to be invited to teach and train in Japan inDecember. In speaking of his experience at SMC, Derek stated "it hasbeen an honor being part of the Gael family at Saint Mary's College and I hope to bringmore awards and accolades to this school."
