Piggery Farmer (Breeding): This job role in the agriculture & allied sub-sector is

responsible for carrying out piggery farming with the support of an intended

breeding programme.

Brief Job Description: A piggery farmer (breeding) may carry out the work in a

small land holdings with a few number of piglets or in a small sized farm area

depending upon the individual’s farming budget. The job holder must adhere to

instructions given by responsible animal husbandry experts or veterinarian while

carrying out work at the site.

Personal Attributes: Needs to be familiar with livestock management, animals

behaviours, characteristics and stress. Should possess an alert mind and

physically active body. Capable of handling strenuous farm activities and animal

wastes management. Should be able to work as per instructions given, be

responsible for own outcomes and work in a team if required.

Construct pig house/shed in appropriate site location

Description This unit is specifically designed to prepare learners with the required learning outcomes for constructing pig house/sty in a small farm land or private land. The incumbent may carry out the construction activities independently or together with other co-workers or construction workers depending upon the size of the piggery farm. The individual should ideally have a design of the required pig housing type base on budget, geographical location, materials availability, required land, number of pigs, etc. He/she is responsible for own outcomes and must perform the given work in accordance with relevant health and safety guidelines.

Description This unit is specifically designed to prepare learners with the required learning outcomes for selecting quality piglets and carry out breeding procedures as per approved animal welfare practices. The incumbent may carry out the breeding planning independently or together with other co-workers depending upon the size of the piggery farm. The individual should ideally have information on different types of breed, suitability in the market, etc. He/she is responsible for own outcomes and must perform the given work in accordance with relevant health and safety guidelines.

Qualification Pack: AGR/Q 4501

Sector Skill Council: Agriculture Skill Council of India

Guidelines for Assessment: 1. Criteria for assessment for each Qualification Pack will be created by the Sector Skill Council. Each Performance Criteria (PC) will be assigned marks proportional to its importance in NOS. SSC will also lay down proportion of marks for Theory and Skills Practical for each PC.

2. The assessment for the theory part will be based on knowledge bank of questions created by the SSC.

3. Individual assessment agencies will create unique question papers for theory part for each candidate at each examination/training center (as per assessment criteria below). 4. Individual assessment agencies will create unique evaluations for skill practical for every student at each examination/training center based on this criteria. 5. To pass the Qualification Pack, every trainee should score a minimum of 40% in every NOS and 60% in aggregate. 6. The marks are allocated PC wise, however, every NOS will carry a weightage in the total marks allocated to the specific QP.
