Certificate IV in Training and Assessment

This course is delivered in fast-track mode for working professionals.

The TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment teaches you the design, delivery and assessment skills required when training people who are working in industry. You will build on your training skills enabling you to deliver and assess competency based national training packages and qualifications.

This qualification is the minimum requirement to teach or assess accredited programs under the Standards for NVR Registered Training Organisations (RTO) and is highly desirable for any person seeking to teach Vocational Education (VE). This qualification is also required in some workplaces not delivering accredited training but wishing to meet current standards.

Course delivery

Fast-track: You will build on your presentation skills and experience by attending 4 workshops delivered over 13 days. The course focuses on the application of your training skills in your workplace, and assessment tasks for this qualification will be structured accordingly. You must study the clusters in the order provided in this brochure.

To gain the full benefit of this course you must have an understanding of vocational training packages and be able to demonstrate vocational competency in their proposed teaching and assessing area. Vocational competency is defined as broad industry knowledge and experience, and may include, but is not limited to, holding a relevant unit of competency or qualification.

Assessment

Assessment consists of a set of knowledge questions as well as practical tasks to improve your teaching and facilitation skills. They will be completed in the workshops and afterwards in your own time.

Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety

This nationally recognised qualification aims to provide students with an understanding of the skills required to administer various occupational health and safety functions. Students will learn to interpret WHS legislation in order to produce a legal framework, establish and maintain WHS quality systems, lead and induct WHS staff and contractors, respond to WHS incidents and claims and learn how to introduce environmentally sustainable practices to the workplace.

Course delivery

Online: Students are required to complete the entire course through the Blackboard e-Learning System. Each cluster requires the completion of assessment activities which need to be submitted by the submission dates selected upon enrolment. Students are required to undertake extensive reading for each unit.

Face-to-face: This delivery mode involves a series of workshops to cover theory and coaching sessions addressing industry contexts.

Assessment

Following the delivery of each cluster students will undertake an assessment which they will be given six weeks to complete.

Diploma of Quality Auditing

In this nationally recognised qualification students will:

+ learn to participate in, initiate, lead on and report on a quality audit

+ facilitate continuous improvement

+ prepare and deliver a presentation on your finding

+ communicate in an influential way during a group setting

Course delivery

Face-to-face delivery: Students attend a series of workshops where they will learn the technical skills needed to carry out an audit in a business environment.

Assessment

The five-day Lead Auditor cluster is assessed through a series of activities conducted within the training room throughout the course and with an exam on day five. On completion of each of the two remaining clusters students will undertake an assessment which they will be given six weeks to complete.

Diploma of Work Health and Safety

This nationally recognised qualification is suitable for people who coordinate and maintain the work health and safety (WHS) program in an organisation. Following the course students will be able to manage WHS risk, manage WHS quality systems, investigate and report on WHS incidents and manage rehabilitation or return to work programs.

Course delivery

Online: Students are required to complete the entire course through the Blackboard e-Learning System. Each cluster requires the completion of assessment activities which need to be submitted by the submission dates selected upon enrolment. Students are required to undertake extensive reading for each unit.

Face-to-face: Students attend a series of workshops where they will learn both technical and leadership and management skills.

Entry requirements

Students must hold all core units from the BSB41415 Certificate IV in WHS or equivalent competencies. Equivalent competencies are predecessors to the following units which have been mapped as equivalent:

+ BSBWHS403 Contribute to implementing and maintaining WHS consultation and participation processes

Advanced Diploma of Work Health and Safety

This nationally recognised qualification is designed to suit those in a specific OHS/WHS role at a senior level. The course reflects the role of individuals who analyse, design and execute judgments using wide-ranging technical, creative, conceptual or managerial competencies.

This course has been structured holistically so that it further develops both your technical skills and your leadership and management skills thus providing you with the relevant skills and knowledge to equip you to lead in the OH&S/WHS arena.
