Why is this happening to

me?

Why do they make it so

difficult for me to do my job?

What Ever Happened to Personal Accountability?

The Question Behind The Question is a tool that has been developed and refined over the years that helps individuals practice personal accountability by asking better questions.

Page 9: QBQ Workshop

Incorrect Questions…(IQ’s) Incorrect questions are the complete

opposite of personal accountability. In each one, the implication is that someone or someone else is responsible for the problem or situation.

Page 10: QBQ Workshop

QBQ

One of the guiding principles of the QBQ is “The answers are in the questions, which speaks the same truth: If we ask a better question, we get a better answer?

Page 11: QBQ Workshop

How to Avoid those Incorrect Questions…(IQ’s)

Begin questions with “What” or “How” (not “Why”, “When,” or “Who”).

Contain an “I” (not “they,” “them,”, “we,” or “you”.

QBQs focus on action.

IQs vs. QBQs

Correct Questions… How can I contribute? How can I serve my students better today? What can I do to solve the problem? What can I do to develop myself?
