All Q.bloxx I/O modules are complete measurement systems on their own. In fact, they do much more than a

typical I/O module. Each module packs it's own microprocessor, FPGA, and 24-bit A/D converters on every

channel. The result is an I/O module that can handle all acquisition, isolation, signal conditioning, fault

detection, alarming, averaging, and more, all before the data is even sampled by

the system.

Since different applications have different specific needs, we developed a full

channels of universal signal conditioning at 100 kHz, or 16 channels of DC-only

data at 10 kHz, we have a module that has been designed to provide the best

Q.bloxx Test Controller - Q.gate

The Q.gate test controller transforms the Q.bloxx measurement modules into a powerful test automation and

control system. The Q.gate handles all of the synchronization (whether internally or externally triggered), data

buffering, control, time stamping and transfer of the data to the automation system (typically a PC) over

Ethernet. Since all of the transferred data is already synchronized and converted to engineering units, all the

PC has to do is display and/or store the results. Test automation made easy from Gantner Instruments.

Q.bloxx Expansion

Since each Q.bloxx test controller (Q.gate) can easily handle 32 measurement modules, expanding your

system is as easy as adding another module into place. That's up to 256 variables per Q.gate, and additional

Q.gates can be easily connected (and synchronized) together for systems requiring higher point counts.

Other Features

ADC Method - The Q.bloxx modules support precise analog measurements by means of a 24-bit Sigma Delta

A/D converter. The integrating nature of this method of A/D conversion allows for extremely stable conversion

with a high noise rejection. While this method has long been the preferred method for high accuracy data

logging, it is not necessarily the most effective method for high speed dynamic response required in closed

loop systems for control applications. When high speed closed loop control is important, the Q.bloxx A102 and

A106 provide analog inputs and outputs on a single Q.bloxx module. This allows measurement signals to be

handled with 100 kHz updates, using a 19 bit successive approximation A/D conversion.

Peer to Peer - The Q.bloxx modules communicate via a serial bus at speeds up to 25 MBaud. Each module

writes its variable information into assigned time slots, ensuring maximum deterministic data transfer. Q.bloxx

modules can be configured to read this time slot data directly from other Q.bloxx modules, supporting high

speed peer to peer performance at the maximum speed.

Chronos - To measure a very low frequency (1 Hz) and a very high frequency (2 MHz) without modification to

the measuring method, the digital inputs of the Q.bloxx module D101 employ the Chronos method to measure

frequencies accurately. The Chronos method precisely measures in parallel, both the number of pulse edges

"n" and the time "T" from the first edge to the last edge within a selectable time window. This is why

frequencies from 1 Hz to 2 MHz can be measured with high accuracy. The frequency is calculated from the

time "T" and the number of edges "n" combined.

Multiplexer - Long term monitoring usually involves many channels (100+) at a very slow sample rate. For

these types of applications, the Q.bloxx M108 multiplexer is the answer. When connected to the Q.bloxx A102

or A106, the M108 supports the connection of 8 channels to a single Q.bloxx, providing both extremely high

packaging density with an equally optimized price performance ratio.

Synchronous Measurement and Conditioning - Synchronized capture of all measured values is essential,

particularly for highly dynamic measuring assignments with measuring rates in the high kHz range, to allow

correlated evaluation of multiple axis acceleration rates. With the Q.series all measuring modules and slide-in

units are queried synchronously by the test controller to minimize jitter to <5 µs within a system. Based on the

IRIG Standard (Inter Range Instrumentation Group) it is possible to precisely synchronize a number of

measuring systems depending on the requirements of the application. A standard RS485 interface is used,

allowing large distance between controllers.
