Explain the life cycle of team. Teams, like projects, can be seen as having various stages of development. These can broadly be defined as collection, entrenchment, resolution/accommodation and synergy, followed almost inevitably by decline. At some point, the team will be disbanded because either they have reached a point at which it is no longer feasible for them to carry on working together or the task they are working on has been accomplished. Using this knowledge, the project manager can identify the stage at which their team is operating, ensuring that the decline phase is held back for as long as possible. This may be done through changing the composition of the team to take the development back a little or expanding the range or scope of the tasks being undertaken to add new challenge. The important point is, though, that teams do have a natural life-cycle and this should be recognized and used to advantage. The alternative is as follows: Have the team assembled for the purpose of solving one single problem, then to disband once it has been solved Proved a path for the development of the role of the team from solving one or small number of low-level problems into semi-autonomous workgroups. This will require other changes and considerable development of the team through education and training. Managing personalities in Team: It is stated that the project managers can benefit from an understanding of the ways in which individuals behave in group situations.

The alternative is as follows:

Have the team assembled for the purpose of solving one single problem, then to disband once it has been solved

Proved a path for the development of the role of the team from solving one or small number of low-level problems into semi-autonomous workgroups. This will require other changes and considerable development of the team through education and training.

Managing personalities in Team:

It is stated that the project managers can benefit from an understanding of the ways in which individuals behave in group situations. These situations have been studied by social scientists for a long time and the results of these studies form a significant part of the sociological and management.
